Tadano is now on a mission to fulfill Komi’s wish: to make 100 friends.

Although the manga is beloved all around, there were concerns regarding how some of the story and comedy would translate into anime. Studio OLM seems to have pulled it off somehow.

The problem, though, has arisen from how Netflix is handling the anime.

As Komi can’t talk much, the show features many scenes where she is communicating with Tadano through writing or text. One of the first major interactions like this occurs in the first episode, where Komi lays her heart out on the classroom chalkboard.

Netflix did not bother to translate any of that text, and this is not the only example. There are other scenes like when Tadano is thinking where we get the same thing.

This seems like the worst thing they could have done for a story that will rely on a lot of on-screen text. The fan-translated versions of the episode that have been out for some time have come through in this aspect.

The accessibility and convenience of Netflix have made it probably the best place to watch anime. For this series, though, check out the other releases.
