5. Plot of Chapter 637
As in Retsubi, the Zhao found out about the empty supplies, Kaioku orders a retreat to minimize further loss. On the Yellow River, the Qin are sending the real supplies through boats. Kanye mentioning receives a message that the ships have passed by Retsubi. A flashback of Riboku mentioning Shinsuijuu about the ships is shown.
Just in case Shinsuijuu attacks the army in front of Retsubi, but it was all for nothing as Riboku has an army stationed to meet Qin in the river. The Zhao navy catches the Qin off guard. The Zhao go through even though Qin sends their battle units.
As the Qin army starves, Shin thinks about ways to get out of this situation. Riboku has a gut feeling about something going down even though his soldiers advise him to rest. Just as he is about to go, soldiers from Kantan show up, asking him to go back to Kantan. He understands the importance of the King’s orders, even though his soldiers offer to kill the messenger. Riboku agrees to go with them.
The call up was due to the defeat at Shukai Plains. Riboku’s request for a ten days delay is also refused due to it being a direct order, and the King’s order is the law. Without confirmation about the Yellow River, he leaves the matter in Shinsuijuu’s hands.
A message is received by Kanyou saying that the Qin navy was defeated as the Zhao sent every available unit to defend the river.
