Kang Actor Will Make $20 Million from Avengers 5 Despite Abuse Case

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania introduced Kang, the MCU’s new big bad. Jonathan Majors first played the role of He Who Remains in Loki, whose more dangerous variants would serve as the main antagonist in the upcoming Avengers film. But after the Kang actor’s arrest and abuse allegations placed on him, Disney is in a bit of a pickle.

The Ant-Man 3 actor was arrested in NY under charges of abuse against an anonymous woman who suffered “minor injuries to the head and neck.” Though the actor was released, and his lawyer claims he is innocent, several parties and projects have cut off their professional ties with Majors.

But a report from FandomWire states that the Kang actor is still set to earn a whopping $20 million due to a pre-existing MCU deal for Avengers: Kang Dynasty. Disney or Marvel hasn’t considered the actor’s future in the MCU and has had “zero conversations” about it.

It makes sense that the multimedia company is avoiding making any big moves before the official verdict is out about the Majors’ abuse case. The NY court has set a trial date for May 8 to investigate the claims made against the Creed 3 actor since the first charge has brought several other alleged victims out in the open.

Fans don’t know what to make of this news since Majors’ lawyer claims to have irrefutable video evidence and will prove his innocence in court. Some fans are enraged that any abuser still gets their piece of the cake despite their actions. And some are siding with Jonathan and are angered by the “guilty till proven innocent” act thrust upon the Black actor.

That’s actually a stand-up point! Ezra Miller, who committed heinous crimes, did not receive this level of backlash, while Majors has already been fired from several projects and even let go by his PR agency and manager.

Disney is making a smart move to wait out the final verdict since several MCU projects will have to scramble for a new actor and further release dates if Majors were to be re-casted.

Loki season 2, slated to premiere on Disney+ in the latter part of 2024, has several critical scenes of Jonathan’s Kang variant. Severing ties with the actor would mean pushing back that project to 2025 and even opening up reshoots with new talent.

So far, the MCU has no plans to replace Majors, but you’d hear it here first if they do plan to let him go. So, stay tuned to Cine Dope for more news on the Kang actor and more!
