Shinomiya defeats #15 in chapter 84 of Kaiju No. 8, titled “The Final Moment.”

It was an emotional chapter. Although we didn’t feel bad for #15, she only wanted love and attention from #9. The chapter mostly focused on exploring #15’s bond with her daddy.

Shinomiya’s win was very important for everyone’s motivation. Now, others will also get motivated to strike back and win. However, I did hope the chapter focused a little less on #15, as her chapter was already finished.

1. Chapter 86 Discussion

Narumi will fight back in chapter 86 of Kaiju No. 8. We will get more epic moments and fight scenes in the next chapter. 

The chapter won’t be much different from the previous few, but we will have a different character to focus on. Narumi is a pretty epic and fan-favorite character, and it will be exciting to see him fight back.

We might also get some Kafka scenes, and I am dying to see them. The manga is getting monotonous with the fight scenes, and the arc is getting stretched out. The short chapters don’t help with that, either. 

So, I hope the manga will change its pace and give us something new and unique.

Shinomiya beheads #15 and exclaims that it is over. Suddenly, Shinomiya’s consciousness starts getting occupied. She thinks it is a mental attack but is surprised that #15’s past is flashing through her mind.

#15 cries to her daddy for help. We get back to the time when #15 was a small child. The monster replies that she was created to destroy Kikoru, and if she does that, he will love her. 

He gives her the task of killing a prototype of Kikoru. She kills it immediately and asks the monster again whether he loves her. He continues giving her various tasks. 

He always tells her she will be loved once she completes the task. He tells her that if she kills Kikoru, he will definitely love her. She is now determined to kill Kikoru. 

We return to the present, where #15 tells Kikoru that her father was strict with her because he loved her. #15’s case is different, as she was just a pawn for him. 

While fading away, #15 sees her father and exclaims that he is not looking at her even now. She fades away. Everyone at the headquarter is elated by Shinomiya’s win.

At the same time, a report from Sumida comes up about Gen Narumi getting beaten up. Kikoru connects with Narumi and tells her dumbass mentor to show everyone his true strength. 

Narumi accepts her challenge and prepares himself to show her how different they are in power. 

6. About Kaiju No.8

Kaiju No. 8 or Monster #8 is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Naoya Matsumoto. It has been serialized for free on Shueisha’s Shōnen Jump+ from July 2020.

In Japan, creatures are known as kaiju frequently attack the nation with the Japanese Defense Force in charge of dealing with and killing them.

Childhood friends Kafka Hibino and Mina Ashiro vow to become members of the Defense Force after a kaiju destroys their home. Mina becomes a famous commander of the Force while Kafka fails the exam multiple times and becomes a monster sweeper, those in charge of cleaning up a monster’s dead body.

One day a small talking kaiju enters his body through his mouth and he can now turn into a Kaiju himself. This is dubbed “Kaiju No. 8” by the Defense Force.
