Kaguya-sama: Love is War Chapter 248: Release Date, Delay, Discussion

Chapter 247 of Kaguya-sama: Love is War, titled “Yu Ishigami can’t bring himself to say,” is the latest installment of the manga.

The plot thickens as another hurdle arises between Kaguya and Miyuki’s happy ending. In the previous chapters, it was revealed that Kaguya would not return to Shuchiin Academy, and as far as we know, Iino and Ishigami are the only ones who knew.

Kaguya and Miyuki’s breakup is discussed quite and lot, and Kaguya herself called Miyuki, asking him to end things between them.

It seems as if she’s saying that the moments she had with Miyuki were filled with nothing but happiness, and she wants to break up before Miyuki finds himself in a mess because of her.

How will Miyuki react to this? Will he really accept his fate and agree to end things with Kaguya? We’ll find out in the next chapter of Kaguya-sama: Love is War.

1. Chapter 248 Discussions and Predictions 

Chapter 247 takes a sharp turn, and it seems like there are too many odds against Kaguya and Miyuki’s relationship. At the end of the chapter, Kaguya calls Miyuki to end things between them.

While this is a common trope in romance manga, it seems like Miyuki and Kaguya could break up for real and find happiness with other people. This is quite unlikely but a possibility nonetheless.

Another possible and more reasonable theory is that maybe Kaguya is trying to ask for Miyuki’s help in a cryptic way. Perhaps her words hold more meaning than their face value. Will Kaguya and Miyuki find a way to reunite? We can only wait for the next chapter to see for ourselves.

5. Chapter 247 Recap

Chapter 247 opens with a concerned Miyuki, expressing how worried he feels about Kaguya missing school. Ishigami and Iino are there with him in the council room and discuss the possibilities of her absence.

Miyuki gets a phone call and gets excited, thinking it’s from Kaguya. His excitement is short-lived as it was only Hayasaka on the other end. He takes the call unenthusiastically, excusing himself from the other two members.

Meanwhile, Ishigami starts freaking out because he cannot bring himself to tell Miyuki that Kaguya will not return to school. Iino tries to comfort him, saying that Kaguya only told him about her situation because she trusts him.

They further try to think of her future with Miyuki, wondering if they will break up.

Before going to Miyuki, they decide to consult Nagisa, a senior from a wealthy family. She tells them that it is likely that Kaguya will break up with Miyuki since only status and wealth matter in their world.

She adds that the Shinomiya family must be trying to marry off Kaguya to someone else because it was a norm for them to have arranged marriages. 

In the upper class, women are often seen as a tool for raising a family’s values. Nagisa further comments on her own situation, saying that if Tsubasa hadn’t been the successor of a major hospital, there’s no way she would have dated him.

She leaves shortly and is then seen asking Mikado if everything is going according to his plan. Iino and Ishigami are left stunned, and they try to convince themselves that Kaguya and Miyuki’s breakup isn’t possible.

We then cut to Miyuki on the rooftop, finally receiving a call from Kaguya. He is thrilled and worried at the same time. He asks her if everything is alright since she doesn’t sound well. Kaguya dodges his question and reminisces about their happy moments from the past.

As the episode ends, Kaguya tells Miyuki that they should end things between them.

Kaguya-sama: Love Is War is a Japanese seinen manga series written and illustrated by Aka Akasaka. It began serialization in Shueisha’s Miracle Jump in May 2015 and was transferred to Weekly Young Jump in March 2016.

Student council president Miyuki Shirogane and vice-president Kaguya Shinomiya appear to be the perfect couple. Still, both are too proud to confess their love and scheme to make the other confess their love first.
