It was utterly relentless and breathtaking, and if you think the next season will be mellow, you would be dead wrong. The sequel has just been announced, and brace for impact, as it will be brutal.
The official website of the ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ series announced another sequel for the anime. Season 3 has been greenlit and will adapt the “Culling Game” (Shimetsu Kaiyū) arc.
MAPPA will continue to produce the anime. The website has also streamed an announcement video.
The super short announcement video teases the ‘culling game’ that has been set up by pseudo-Geto. The video also features a brief snippet of Itadori talking about how it is brutal, but he cannot die yet.
While most of them are excited about the announcement of season 3, some of the others are entirely disappointed. Firstly, since many freelance animators spoke up about their devastating work conditions, fans expected MAPPA to stop and take a break.
However, MAPPA is still pushing without any consideration for the working conditions of the staff members.
Secondly, Culling Game is a controversial arc. Some might even call it somewhat of a filler. The arc mainly focuses on the elaborate setup by Kenjaku and features extravagant fights between the curses and the newly introduced characters, who are killed off almost immediately.
The fans felt no connection to these new characters and felt like Gege was spinning around. However, it depends on your perception, as the Culling Game arc shows the growth of Itadori, and the fights are impressive.
Regardless of the opinions, give it a try and decide if ‘Culling Game’ is worth watching.
