Abrams’ latest venture feeds into the interest of mysterious objects spotted in the sky, debunking myth from the mundane. Being produced under Abrams’ own banner Bad Robot, it has documentary producer Glen Zipper lending his expertise in the field of the unscripted.

UFO is made as a four-part documentary series. Episode 1 premiered on Showtime on August 8. On the very same day, the TV network also released the full episode for free on its official YouTube channel.

UFO sightings have been an undeniable part of American pop culture and lore, and the documentary aims to inspect it by each decade, as it features original footage of UFO sightings.

This is aided by the data released by US Government that only recently declassified the Pentagon’s tracking information around UFO sightings.

But beyond simply being a myth buster, the documentary brings out the heart in a phenomenon labelled as delusional and whacky with eyewitnesses sharing their personal experiences, especially about not being believed for their UFO sightings.

The remaining three episodes will be released on each coming Sunday of August.
