Ji Chang-wook in Talks for ‘Tell Me Your Wish’

In the middle of filming Netflix’s The Sound of Magic, Ji Chang-wook has already received another K-drama offer. His agency Glorious Entertainment has confirmed that the actor is in talks for the drama Tell Me Your Wish.

A fresh role awaits Ji, if he chooses to play Yoon Gye-re in Tell Me Your Wish, a man in a hospice ward who neither has the will to live or die. As a perpetual, and sometimes aimless fugitive, he is prone to self-harm by tattooing himself whenever he starts building a will to survive.

Ultimately, the title ‘Tell Me Your Wish’ alludes to the trope of ‘your last dying wish’ and the audience can expect Yoon Gye-re to learn about and experience what “living” truly means, especially in the face of an impending demise. Of course, whether we will see it end happily or not is left to the creative devices of the writers.

This salvation K-drama of people who hope to “die well” is written by Jo Ryeong-soo and directed by Kim Yong-wan. Filming is scheduled to start in the later parts of 2021.

Besides The Sound of Magic that is yet to air (or have a release date confirmed), Ji Chang-wook has recently appeared in KakaoTV and Netflix’s collaborative web series Lovestuck in the City (2020), a fictional comical documentary on people’s romantic lives in the city of Seoul.

In a completely opposite role from Lovestruck’s hopeless romantic, Ji also hit the silver screens in 2021’s thriller Restricted Call, which has gone on to be #1 at the Korean box office.

It’s been a while since Ji Chang-wook has explored the surrealist genre in K-Dramas. Now with nearly completing The Sound of Magic, and an offer for Tell Me Your Wish, we can expect to see more of Ji Chang-wook in those roles!

About Tell Me Your Wish

Tell Me Your Wish is an upcoming K-drama set up in a hospice ward where patients are working their way towards “dying well.” It follows Yoon Gye-re who stubbornly refuses to embark on this learning journey due to his own feelings of vulnerability and being afraid of growing too attached to life, in the face of an impending demise.

The drama is written by Jo Ryeong-soo and directed by Kim Yong-wan. Ji Chang-wook is expected to play the lead role of Yoon Gye-re.
