J.K. Simmons will be the voice behind Omni-Man in Mortal Kombat 1

NetherRealm Studios recently revealed six DLC characters of the first Kombat Pack in Mortal Kombat 1– Invincible’s Omni-Man, Ermac, DC’s Peacemaker, Quan-Chi, Takeda, and Homelander from The Boys. This star-studded cast announcement was greeted with exciting response from the community. However, it looks like there’s more good news in store.

In a recent interview at Comic-Con, NetherRealm Studios’ Ed Boon revealed that J.K. Simmons will be reprising his role as Invincible’s Omni-Man and has been recording the voiceover for the same.

Invincible has its own series on Amazon Prime since 2021. Apart from that, Simmons has starred in multiple Spider-Man movies, including Far From Home and No Way Home.

According to a leak, Mortal Kombat 1 will feature a gruesome mini-game where players will be tasked with destroying a head. Not much is known about this other than the fact that it will be available in specific game modes.

A mini-game is a really good idea to spice things up. Other than the reboot, NetherRealms Studios seem to have incorporated many more such changes to bring a fresh experience to the Mortal Kombat series.

A developer has also indirectly confirmed the theory surrounding Scorpion which suggests that his real identity is Kuai Liang, the second Sub-Zero. This will allow players to explore the roles of Hanzo Hasashi and Noob Saibo in the game’s timeline.

While all the rumors and leaks sound promising, gamers will have to wait to see how the final game turns out to be when Mortal Kombat 1 finally launches on September 19th for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

About Mortal Kombat 1

Developer NetherRealm Studios has officially revealed Mortal Kombat 1, the next chapter in its long-running fighting game series, which was released on September 19th. It takes on that name, rather than the expected Mortal Kombat 12 name, because–as previous teasers hinted at–Mortal Kombat 1 is a sort-of-reboot of the series and takes place in the New Era timeline established by Liu Kang after he ascended to godhood in 2019’s Mortal Kombat 11.
