It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia S16 Trailer: A Breaking Bad Reunion and More Chaos from the Gang

The trailer for the upcoming season of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia has been released, teasing hilarious and outrageous antics from the Gang once again.

The long-running sitcom, which holds the record for the longest-running live-action American comedy, will return for its 16th season on June 7 on FXX.

Starring Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton, Kaitlin Olson, and Danny DeVito, the show is about a group of dysfunctional friends who run a bar in Philadelphia and get into various schemes and troubles.

The 90-second clip shows that the Gang will be dealing with new topical issues, such as inflation, US-Russian relations, mental health, gender equality, injury liability, and gun control.

However, as expected, they will approach these subjects with their usual ignorance, selfishness, and absurdity.

For instance, Frank (DeVito) tries to teach them about inflation by making them pay for everything with gold coins, while Mac (McElhenney) and Dennis (Howerton) get into a heated argument over whether men or women have it harder in life.

The trailer also reveals some surprising guest stars for the new season, namely Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul from Breaking Bad. However, their appearance on the show will not be a crossover with their original show but rather a meta-joke about celebrity status.

The trailer shows that Charlie (Day) becomes their chauffeur for some reason, and they are happy about it. Charlie later reveals that the car smells fishy because he vomited inside it.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 16 will mark the show’s return after a long hiatus. The last episode aired in December 2021, when the Gang went to Ireland for a special two-part finale.

Mishaps and revelations were the order of the day as Frank got involved in shady businesses, Mac learned about priesthood, and Charlie reconnected with his long-lost father.

The season ended on a bittersweet note, as Charlie’s father died, and he tried to honor his wishes by burying him at sea.

Season 16 will see the Gang back in their home turf of Philadelphia, where they will continue to cause chaos and mayhem. Fans can expect more hilarious and outrageous situations from the show that has been praised for its dark humor, clever satire, and fearless comedy.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 16 will premiere on June 7 on FXX and stream on Hulu.

About It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is an American sitcom created by Rob McElhenney, who developed it with Glenn Howerton. It is executive produced and primarily written by McElhenney, Howerton, and Charlie Day, all of whom star alongside Kaitlin Olson and Danny DeVito as Mac, Dennis, Charlie, Dee, and Frank.

The series follows the exploits of “The Gang,” a group of friends who run the Irish bar “Paddy’s Pub” in South Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They’re known to be quite amoral and narcissistic with a crude sense of humor.

With its 15th season (and early renewal till season 18), It’s Always Sunny has become the longest-running live-action of all time.
