The release of chapter 268 of Jujutsu Kaisen really got the series spinning towards its conclusion. Sukuna died, and our favorite trio came back together. However, things could’ve been less grim, as several innocent sorcerers had to die just to seal Sukuna’s fate. No amount of mercy can be expected from Gege Akutami, though, as the concept of plot armor is alien to him.
Amidst all this, one major concern was raised in chapter 268. This is about Yuuta’s whereabouts. What happened to him? Why did Itadori say they had to rescue him? Yuuta has played a major role in the jujutsu sorcerers’ victory against Sukuna with his grand plans. He might as well be regarded as a hero at this point, and he most certainly doesn’t deserve Gege’s wrath. In this article, we will delve into the major speculations concerning Yuuta’s situation.
Is Yuuta Trapped Within Gojo’s Body?
How Yuuta Took Over Gojo:
When Yuuta took over Gojo’s body earlier in the Shinjuku Showdown arc, everyone was in shock and also felt confused about whether they should be happy. However, here we’re focusing on how Yuuta managed to take over Gojo’s body. It was because Yuuta copied Kengaku’s ability to swap brains out to take over people’s bodies.
Yuuta used Kenjaku’s technique on Gojo’s body (the pieces of which were sutured by Shouko) and used reverse cursed technique in full blast, hence reviving the body.
One obvious difference here is the suture on his forehead, which is exactly like Kenjaku’s scar. One major difference though, is how the technique was executed in Yuuta’s and Kenjaku’s case. Kenjaku performs this as it’s his own technique, however Yuuta can only use it with the help of the fully manifested Rika.
How Did Yuuta Get Trapped in Gojo’s Body?
The biggest flaw in Yuuta’s plan was the fact that he could only use a copied technique so long as Rika was fully manifested. As it stands, Rika can only fully manifest for a maximum of five minutes. So then, what would happen to Yuuta after these five minutes?
After five minutes of Rika’s complete manifestation, there’s one out of two possibilities: Yuuta would either die due to the invalidity of the cursed technique, or he would be forever trapped within Gojo’s body. We can assume the former isn’t the case based on Itadori’s words in the latest chapter. He said they had to save Yuuta: this means he is still alive and trapped within Gojo’s body.
One thing to note is the fact that no spoilers/ raw scans on chapter 269 have been released up till the writing of this blog, and hence, there is no way to confirm these speculations.
What To Expect in Chapter 269?
After Yuuji gathered everyone to help Yuuta in the previous chapter, we can expect to see Yuuta in whatever condition he is. In a very likely event in which our speculations on Yuuta’s conditions are true, we can predict the events to take place in the next chapter.
We know that Yuuta is trapped within Gojo’s body; however, we don’t know whether he is safe within the body. Is Gojo’s body in tip-top condition? Can Yuuta freely use Gojo’s body?
Whichever is the case, Yuuta cannot exist within Gojo’s body and has to switch back. We can assume that Yuuji could try to help by using his cursed technique to try and separate Yuuta’s soul from Gojo’s, the same thing that he tried against Sukuna, who took Megumi’s body.
There is also the possibility that Yuuta shows affinity to Gojo’s body and is able to use it with his free will. This would be really convenient as order could be restored to the Jujutsu world this way; however, since Yuuji said “save Okkotsu-senpai” in the previous chapter, this is an unlikely outcome.
What Happened in Chapter 268?
Chapter 268 of Jujutsu Kaisen saw the epic climax of the Shinjuku Showdown arc, where we got to see Sukuna crumbling to dust. The strongest curse of all time was defeated thanks to the combined effort of all Jujutsu sorcerers.
After Sukuna’s death, Megumi finally got his body back and reunited with his friends: a reunion that was much awaited ever since the Shibuya arc ended.
Towards the end of the chapter, we saw that Hakari’s and Uraume’s fight had stopped, and Uraume’s reincarnation was undone. Finally, Yuuta brought all the jujutsu high students together in order to save Yuuta.
When Will Chapter 269 Release?
