Young Sheldon Is Guaranteed to be Renewed for Season 7

Young Sheldon started out as an ambitious project to depict the life of The Big Bang Theory’s offbeat prodigy, Sheldon Cooper. The character was beloved, and thankfully that sentiment carried through in the prequel series as well. In fact, while fans first started watching the show for Sheldon, they stayed on for the Cooper family who always kept you on your toes.

Six seasons down and we still can’t get enough of their stories! So the big, hopeful question is: Has Young Sheldon been renewed for S7?

CBS renewed Young Sheldon for season 7 in 2021 itself. Season 7 (which is also assumed to be the show’s last season) is expected to air in late 2023.

So yes, this is both good and sad news — on one end, despite no recent announcements, there’s a full guarantee that Young Sheldon will be back. Sadly, in all likelihood, this will also be the show’s final chapter, especially since we’re approaching some key milestones in Sheldon’s life.

At the moment, no concrete details about Young Sheldon S7 have been announced, but here are some educated guesses about the same. Proceed with caution, spoilers below!

Young Sheldon is expected to air either in late 2023 or early 2024. There will be 18-22 episodes in Young Sheldon S7.

Young Sheldon is currently still airing S6 with about 6-8 episodes still remaining. As per its previous schedule, S6 is expected to end in April-May, with S7 then picking up in September. So far, the show has never delayed its season premieres and S7 is not expected to be any different.

Young Sheldon will return for season 7 with Iain Armitage, Zoe Perry, Lance Barber, Montana Jordan, Raegan Revord, Annie Potts, and Emily Osment as part of the main cast.

Of course, the season will also feature appearances from all its recurring and guest stars like Wallace Shawn, Melissa Peterman, Ed Begley Jr, Mckenna Grace, Craig T Nelson, Wendie Malick, Dan Byrd, and others.

In fact, since this may be Young Sheldon’s last season, we may have some The Big Bang Theory cameos (as narrators) or Easter eggs!

Young Sheldon Plot

Since we’re still in the middle of Young Sheldon S6, there’s no telling how exactly S7 will start.

However, die-hard TBBT fans know for certain that there’s one big shocker in store for them: The night that Sheldon discovers his father’s extramarital affairs. Given Sheldon’s current age, this arc will definitely take place in S7 — so for better or for worse, that’s one thing to anticipate.

Besides this, another guaranteed arc is Georgie’s “first” wedding, which was stated to have happened when he turned 19 as per TBBT. If S6 doesn’t cover it, S7 sure will!

Lastly, the show may explore more plots around Mary (and perhaps her own dalliance with Pastor Rob) and Connie’s continued adventures. I, personally, am hoping that Missy gets a major storyline in S7 as she’s usually sidetracked and only called in for comedic relief or sassy eye-rolling.

Stay tuned for more updates!
