Is Wednesday a biological child of the Addams, or is she adopted?

Having broken three massive Netflix records, Wednesday is turning out to be quite the hit! One of the reasons for this massive engagement is that fans are totally in love with Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday and are embracing her unique and uncompromising personality.

You may have noticed that Wednesday is quite different, even from her eccentric, gore-loving Addams family. In the Netflix rendition, has she been adopted?

Wednesday is not adopted in the Netflix show. She is Morticia and Gomez Addams’ biological and only daughter.

It’s easy to wonder whether Wednesday is actually related to the Addams. She is wholly different from her puny, pitiable brother Pugsley. Even Morticia and Gomez, in all their weirdness, don’t match Wednesday’s level of sociopathy.

So what proof do we have that Wednesday is biologically an Addams’ child? Well, to start off, the show does not even remotely suggest she is adopted. On the contrary, the whole season depicts Wednesday’s strong ties with her family and the responsibilities that come with it.

Is Wednesday really part of the Addams Family or is she adopted?
Wednesday

Wednesday inherits her psychic powers from Morticia, who is a psychic herself. Besides this, Ortega also plays Goody Addams, Gomez’s ancestor. This is proof enough that she’s the Addams’ biological daughter.

Let’s not forget that Laurel Gates needed Wednesday’s blood (because she’s Goody’s descendent) in order to resurrect Joseph Crackstone. This proves Wednesday’s lineage beyond a doubt!

There’s another reason viewers may be confused about Wednesday’s lineage. In the 2021 animated movie, The Addams’ Family 2, the antagonist claimed that Wednesday was switched at birth and had accidentally landed up with the Addams.

This claim becomes one of the film’s central plotlines, but it is later proved that this was false information that the villain was using to break up Wednesday and her family.

There you go. In all the versions, Wednesday is a true-born Addams all the way through. It’s time for a celebratory dance!
