Where is Bruce Banner in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law Episode 2?

The MCU’s Phase 4 will end with Black Panther and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, as confirmed by Kevin Feige at this year’s Comic-Con. The comedy-legal drama follows the story of lawyer Jennifer Walters, who gets infected with her cousin Bruce’s blood and becomes the She-Hulk.

Starring Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk, the lawyer show’s first episode premiered on Disney+ on August 18. The episode showed She-Hulk’s origin story and how she spent months under Bruce’s tutelage, learning the pros and cons of being a Hulk.

The close dynamic between the Hulks was interesting to watch, along with the fangirl moment most fans had at seeing the two Hulks fight each other in a familial dispute. But first, let’s skip back to the accident that birthed She-Hulk.

The two cousins were discussing the possibility of Captain America being a virgin as Maslany’s Jennifer Walters drove the car when suddenly a Sakaarian ship descended in their path.

Jennifer veered the car off-road in shock, sending them tumbling off a cliff and into a forest. Walters tries to pull Bruce out of the debris, and her open wound comes in contact with Banner’s blood, effectively exposing her to an almost fatal amount of gamma radiation and turning her into a hulk.

Later, when Jennifer inquires about the spaceship, Bruce informs her that it was a Sakaarian ship trying to contact him since he had escaped Sakaar along with Thor, Valkyrie, and Loki in Thor: Ragnarok (2017).

Nothing more was revealed in the first episode of the ship’s whereabouts in the first episode of the legal drama. But now, we have no information about the release of Episode 2 this Thursday.

When Jennifer calls Bruce to ask how he feels about her representing The Abomination (Emil Blonsky) in a trial that may earn his freedom, we see Bruce talking to Jen on the phone in a lab. But the close-up shot drew back after he hung up, and it was revealed that he was on the Sakaarian ship that we had seen in Episode 1.

The spaceship was in outer space traveling to another planet, presumably Sakaar, and as the ship blips out of Earth’s jump-point, the call drops.

So why did Bruce agree to return to Sakaar, where he was once the Grandmaster’s champion? Did he go by will or by force? What will happen once he returns to Sakaar? More about this side story will be revealed in the upcoming episodes on Disney+ every Thursday.
