Mortal Kombat 1 Complete Invasions Mode for Switch in development

Mortal Kombat 1 was released on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Windows PC on September 19th, after an early access period from September 14th.

Mortal Kombat 1’s Invasion Mode is the newest addition to the Mortal Kombat franchise. This mode was, however, not fully available to the Nintendo Switch users on launch. Developers NetherRealm have confirmed that the full access to Invasions Season 1 will be open in a few weeks.

The limited availability of the Invasion Mode on Switch has concerned console users. WB Games clarified that excluding Invasion mode from Mortal Kombat was driven by the need to ensure that the players get the best possible experience.

This resulted in releasing only the introductory portion of the Invasions mode. They also apologized for all the inconvenience caused by excluding the full Invasions mode.

This has not been the only complaint by Nintendo Switch fans regarding Mortal Kombat 1. Players complained of poor graphics and visual bugs after the Early Access version was released on the Switch.

NetherRealm claimed Mortal Kombat 1 would run smoothly at 60FPS on the Switch. However, a TikTok user named johniibo showed that the title failed to run smoothly and was reminiscent of games from the early 2000s.

The Nintendo Switch is one console where the reviews are not great. Otherwise, Mortal Kombat 1 has received wide praise from the dedicated fanbase.

Fans must remember that IGN or Steam ratings are unreliable, as they are subject to review bombings. The key to the developer’s success was the transparent approach that the they adopted.

The developers are not hiding anything from the fans. In the example of the Invasions mode and the non-availability of cross-play upon release, there was clear communication from the devs, ensuring no hurt feelings or unrealistic expectations.

About Mortal Kombat 1

Developer NetherRealm Studios has officially revealed Mortal Kombat 1, the next chapter in its long-running fighting game series, which was released on September 19th. It takes on that name, rather than the expected Mortal Kombat 12 name, because–as previous teasers hinted at–Mortal Kombat 1 is a sort-of-reboot of the series and takes place in the New Era timeline established by Liu Kang after he ascended to godhood in 2019’s Mortal Kombat 11.
