Inuyasha Sequel, Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon is Coming Soon!

Viewers outside Asia used to shun anime as “kid’s stuff”, but this all changed when Inuyasha came out.

When anime like Pokemon, Digimon, and Yu-Gi-Oh were picking up pace, Inuyasha offered far more believable characters. It had love, action, horror, drama and silly Japanese sex humor.

Evil in Inuyasha had some depth too unlike all the overpowered dumb monsters we get these days.

While most of the industry is currently shuttered due to the lockdown, after almost two decades, Inuyasha is back in the spotlight with a new series. Moreover, the original Inuyasha episodes are also streaming on Netflix and Hulu.

The Japanese production company, Sunrise, announced that it is going to revive “Inuyasha” anime with a new series “Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon.”

The new series will focus on half-demon twins Towa and Setsuna, who get separated from each other during a forest fire. While the younger one stays in the demon world, the elder one follows a tunnel that takes her to present-day Japan, where she gets raised.

Ten years later, the tunnel reopens, reuniting the two girls. However, the younger one is now a demon slayer and has lost all her childhood memories.

With the daughter of Inuyasha and Kagome, the three girls decide to travel back to explore their past.

Viz Media is handling digital streaming rights, electronic sell-through and home video in North America and Latin American territories. The new series will have the same original creator, Rumiko Takahashi doing character design.

Inuyasha premiered in Weekly Shōnen Sunday on November 13, 1996, and concluded on June 18, 2008, with the chapters collected into 56 tankōbon volumes by Shogakukan.

Kagome Higurashi, a 15-year-old schoolgirl, gets transported to the Sengoku period of Japan after falling into a well in her family shrine. There she meets the half dog-demon, Inuyasha. Kagome possesses a powerful magical Shikon Jewel.

When a monster from that era tries to take the jewel, Kagome shatters the Jewel into many pieces. Now, Kagome and Inuyasha must retrieve the shards before the evil half spider-demon Naraku finds them.
