Intel’s 14th-Gen specs reveal clock speeds for upcoming K-series

Intel’s upcoming 15th-Gen Arrow Lake-S and 14th-Gen Raptor Lake Refresh-S have been benchmarked and normalized to Intel’s Core i9-13900K with similar specs and core count.

Reputed Hardware Leaker and Chinese media outlet Benchlife have revealed the full specifications for the 14th-Gen Raptor Lake Refresh. Intel is reportedly increasing the clock frequency across the K-series SKUs by 200MHz. The i9-14900K can achieve a boost frequency of up to 6.0GHz, the i7-14700K can reach 5.6GHz, and Core i5-14600K can reach up to 5.3GHz.

The Raptor Lake-S Refresh Core i7-14700K slightly changes from the original 13th-Gen Raptor Lake, i.e., the i7-13700K. The core count comes with 8 Performance Cores and 12 Efficient Cores.

The “Intel Smart Cache” also increased from 30MB in the 13th Gen to 33MB in the 14th Gen. Earlier, when the alleged specs for the Core i9-14900K were leaked via RedGamingTech, the boost clock speed was revealed to be 6.2 GHz.

However, the new details revealed by Benchlife have set the Core i9-14900 K’s Performance Core Boost clock to reach only up to 6.0 GHz. Currently, the processors are in the Pre-QS stage.

This means the specifications, including clock speed, could change ahead of the mid-October release for the 14th-Gen Raptor Lake-S Refresh series.

The same leak by RedGamingTech revealed that the Core i5-14600K would receive more performance cores. However, if Benchlife’s reports are believed, the i5-14600K would continue with the 6 P cores, similar to the i5-13600K.

However, the clock frequency will reportedly be higher by 200MHz and reach a boost clock of 5.3 GHz. This is assuming Benchlife did not make a mistake in reporting.

The 6.0GHz on the i9-14900K is the highest clock speed achievable by the entire lineup. This makes the i9-14900K essentially the same as the i9-13900KS, which had a configuration of 8P + 16E.

As for the socket, the 14th-Gen Raptor Lake-S Refresh will continue to leverage the older LGA1700 socket. This is generally found on the Intel 700 series Motherboards.

The 13th-Gen was compatible with the Intel 700 series motherboards. The motherboard can be upgraded to support the 14th-Gen Raptor Lake-S Refresh via a BIOS update.

The rumored release date of October is expected to be for the Raptor Lake-S Refresh K and KF models. The non-K, efficiency-based 65W TDP models will reportedly be available at the beginning of 2024.
