A new arc begins with a mysterious wooden doll terrorizing the town in episode 6 of In/Spectre season 2.

As Tae goes for a healthy morning jog, she discovers the dilemma many of the town’s fishermen are facing; the death of multiple fish overnight. Rumors around the city connect it to the grudge of one of its members, and it is soon proven true.

With a wooden doll roaming the beaches at night, completely overpowering all the yokai that try to fight it, Tae has no chance but to seek help from the Goddess of Wisdom herself, and she answers her call.

1. Episode 7 Speculation: 

Tae will likely fill Kotoko in on what has been happening from her perspective and try and get her help in whatever way she can. But it is likely that Kotoko already knows and has investigated much more than she lets them know.

She will likely play around with Tae before revealing how much she knows and deduces and then begin working on her plan to destroy the doll or exorcise it. Since she has brought her boyfriend, he will likely be the exorcist this time.

3. Recap of Episode 6:

We see another instance of a yokai living in peace with a human, a cat spirit that has made itself comfortable in the home of an old lady and quickly grasped her interest and love. 

During a morning job, Tae talks about the local mystery where the fish keep dying of some unknown cause. She reassures the fishermen that it may just be a month of good luck, and it will eventually fix itself.

There is a rumor spreading around that all of the bad luck within the town is due to Zenta’s curse. This older man passed away recently, holding a massive grudge against the city for the death of his family and, eventually, his too.

Tourists especially were getting on Zenta’s nerves, and it was known that he held resentment for them. The incident with the fish, as well as all the mysterious accidents before it, have begun making a bad reputation for the town and scaring away tourists.

They suspect that Zenta may have imbued a curse on the town using a wooden doll that he was known to carry, and Tae recalls seeing the finished doll right next to his dead body. However, the doll disappeared by itself after death.

The doll may be moving around by itself and killing the fish to carry out Zenta’s will, and some action must be taken. She asks them to begin working on a purification ritual which is the least they can do.

She asks the cat about the doll, and he takes her to the beach at night to show her the number of spirits and yokai that roam the sands at that time. The doll also appears and begins walking through the beach when it is attacked by Master Shojo, an ally of yokai.

The doll uses its electric powers to neutralize the monsters and easily fends them off. All the yokai are at a complete dead-end since not even the teamwork of two of their best spirits could take down the doll, and its rampage continues further.

The cat talks about Kotoko, the Goddess of Wisdom, and asks for her to stay at Tae’s house for the night, whence she can get all the details of the situation and immediately take action. Tae is surprised to see a pleasant little girl in the morning and her boyfriend.

In/Spectre (Kyoko Suiri) is a novel series written by Kyo Shirodaira and illustrated by Hiro Kyohara (Vol. 1) and Chasiba Katase (Vol. 2 onwards). A manga adaptation by Katase has also been serialized since April 2015. The series was adapted into an anime on January 11, 2020, with a second season arriving in 2023.

At the age of 11, Kotoko was kidnapped by youkai who made her an intermediary between the spirits and humans but at the price of her eye and leg.

Now, whenever youkai wish for their problems to be solved, they make their way to Kotoko for consultation. She is joined by Kuro, whom she falls for and may have a mysterious power hidden inside him.
