In/Spectre S2 is an upcoming sequel of the supernatural romance based on a Japanese novel by Kyo Shirodaira and published by Kodansha in 2011.

The story revolves around the duo Kuro Sakuragawa and Kotoko Iwanaga and their adventures in a world of yokai, mythical beings in Japanese folklore. Their meeting leads to a love-at-first-sight story, and Kuro is brought into her world of yokais.

After a long wait for season 2, it’s a relief to many loyal fans that the story will finally continue with a second adaptation of the anime. Even Kyo Shirodaira, the author, revealed that he expected an adaptation later.

Episode 1 Speculation

Brain’s Base returns to produce the second season, and we can expect the first season to kick off a new arc in the duo’s adventures with yokai. The trailer teased more of Kuro and Kotoko’s fights with yokais as well as the introduction of two new characters.

Kuro’s cousin, Rikka Sakuragawa, and another person who survived the yokai attacks of the past have also been introduced in the promotion of season 2. The visuals released have also included a dating scene with Kuro and Kotoko.

About In/Spectre: Kyokou Suiri

In/Spectre (Kyoko Suiri) is a novel series written by Kyo Shirodaira and illustrated by Hiro Kyohara (Vol. 1) and Chasiba Katase (Vol. 2 onwards). A manga adaptation by Katase has also been serialized since April 2015. The series was adapted into an anime on January 11, 2020, with a second season arriving in 2023.

At the age of 11, Kotoko was kidnapped by youkai who made her an intermediary between the spirits and humans but at the price of her eye and leg.

Now, whenever youkai wish for their problems to be solved, they make their way to Kotoko for consultation. She is joined by Kuro, whom she falls for and may have a mysterious power hidden inside him.
