The Batman Will Stream on HBO Max From April 2022

The biggest comic book movie of 2022, The Batman, arrives in cinemas in March after an excruciatingly long wait. So, it is bound to be a full house spectacle.

However, if you’re one of those folks who are still reluctant to sit in a theatre packed with other people, you might not have to wait much longer till the film is available for streaming.

In an interview with Vox’s Recode , WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar revealed that the film would be available for streaming on HBO Max starting April 19, 2022. (via ComicBook.com)

Think about when movies would show up on HBO, which is eight to nine months after theatrical premiere. The Batman is going to show up on day 46 on HBO Max. That is a huge change from where things were in 2018, 2017, 2016.

Warner Bros. CEO Ann Sarnoff recently stated that Warner Bros. would not be backing out of their deal with AMC Theatres as they have committed to return to a 45-day exclusive theatrical window for their 2022 slate.

Following Wonder Woman 1984’s release, the company’s decision to have a simultaneous day-and-date release for its 2021 stale was a bold one. It included titles like Godzilla vs. Kong, Space Jam: A New Legacy, The Suicide Squad, Dune, and The Matrix Resurrections.

Kilar added that DCEU’s other heavily anticipated titles like Black Adam and The Flash will be getting the same treatment as The Batman.

This is a significant contrast to what Disney has been doing with its theatre-to-streaming strategy. With a minimum 45-day exclusive theatrical release, some titles like Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Eternals, and Free Guy have taken almost twice as much time to be available on Disney+.

So this move by WB is definitely appreciated. However, it doesn’t matter how big your TV screen might be; nothing beats the feeling of experiencing a movie in a cinema hall.

A recent image posted by Empire magazine shows Robert Pattinson and Zoë Kravitz at the Necropolis, with the Royal Infirmary and Glasgow Cathedral visible in the back.

Glasgow? Call it Gotham:

So watching The Batman in theaters, when it arrives on March 4, would surely make one appreciate how Glasgow was transformed into Gotham, capturing the city’s beauty on film.
