The Ali Ibn Muhammed Investigation is one of the first Investigations you’ll complete in Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Ali, Leader of the Zanj, has mysteriously disappeared and it is up to Basim to unravel the truth. It is suspected that the Order is behind his disappearance.
Ali is located in the Damascus Gate Prison, specifically in the basement in Assassin’s Creed Mirage. This is a formidable prison, crawling with guards and mercenaries. Players are required to infiltrate this prison in order to locate Ali and liberate him.
Infiltrating the Damascus Gate Prison is a part of the Jailbreak mission in the game. However, you’ll need to do more than just infiltrating the prison to liberate Ali.
1. Meeting Fuladh to Scope Out the Damascus Gate Prison
Players must head to the west of the Harbiyah Bureau to meet Fuladh. Both Basim and Fuladh will scope out the Damascus Gate Prison to look for a way in. This is where players will find out that Basim owns a Khidmah Token, which will be of use in this Investigation.
A Khidmah Token is a rare currency, which can be exchanged for favors with certain people of Baghdad. This Khidmah Token will come in handy while infiltrating the Damascus Gate Prison, which is the next objective.
2. Infiltrating the Damascus Gate Prison
Players have four ways to infiltrate the prison:
- Bribe the Mercenaries: At the right side of the Damascus Gate Prison is a group of mercenaries who you can bribe to fight the prison guards in exchange for the Power Token.
- Speak to the Merchants: At the front of the prison gate are the merchants who you can bribe in exchange for the Merchant Token.
- Speak to the Rebels: You can bribe the rebels as well in exchange for the Rebel Token.
- The Quiet Way: If you’re running low on Tokens, climb up the walls on the side of the prison and drop down to the center of the prison.
Before infiltrating the prison, use Enkidu to scout it out. You’ll quickly notice that this isn’t going to be a walk in the park, and you’ll have to plan strategically to liberate Ali. Thankfully, any of the four ways mentioned above will get you into the prison.
3. Finding and Liberating Ali Inside the Prison
Once you’ve bribed the Rebels (or bribed whoever you had a token for), follow them to sneak inside the prison. Stay behind the rebels and climb up the wall to get into the prison.
You’ll notice a flight of stairs in front of you. Climb it, then drop down to get inside the prison through a door, located on the outside.
Enter the door to get into the prison. Now, this is where it gets tricky. You’ll be using your Eagle Vision a lot to locate Ali. Activate it to track the guards inside the prison.
Travel through the hallways stealthily and track down the guards to assassinate them, one by one. Keep doing this until you come across a barred door.
Unbar the door, then take a hard right to reach a small, enclosed area with guards and civilians. Take cover to the right and wait for the guards to pass by, then assassinate them.
After doing so, you’ll come across another room to the right of the guard pictured above. Get inside and follow the guards with your Eagle Vision until you come across a couple of hanging white sheets.
You’ll notice two guards in this room. Assassinate them, and head to the room behind them.
In this room, you’ll come across more hanging sheets. Make your way to the end of the room to find a small hole above the shelves in this room. Climb up there and proceed to the next room.
From there, go straight to another room overlooking some wooden structures to perch on.
Once you’re perched on them, you’ll notice a room to the left. Head there to find a guard beside a flight of stairs, leading down to the basement. Assassinate the guards and climb down the stairs to open the door to the basement.
Now, this is where it gets easier. Here, you have to simply use your Eagle Vision to locate the Jailer who has held Ali captive.
After locating the Jailer, your objective will be to fight him. Defeating the Jailer will trigger a cutscene, showing Basim freeing Ali, and that’s all you need to do to liberate him. But wait, there’s more!
4. Escaping the Damascus Gate Prison
Before leaving the prison, Ali wants to track down and infiltrate the Guard’s Quarters. Escorting him there will lead to an encounter with multiple guards outside. However, you can skip this fight and head straight for the rope to the right to glide down and escape the prison.
