Lynels

The best way to defeat a Lynel is using Puffshrooms. Headshot the Lynels with arrows to stun them then use Puffshrooms to surround them with the smoke. Once surrounded, get some hits in until you see the ‘Mount’ prompt appear to mount on its back and attack.

Keep attacking the Lynels from behind until you get the ‘Mount’ prompt. Mount on its back and attack until the Lynel throws Link off, after which you can shoot arrows at it. If the ‘Mount’ button does not appear, keep throwing Puffshrooms and attacking it from behind.

Red-Maned Lynel

The Red-Maned Lynels are the easiest Lynels to beat in Tears of the Kingdom. They are standard versions of the enemy and have the lowest health out of all the Lynel types. They are not as tricky to beat as the other Lynels.

Sneak up on the Red-Maned Lynel and mount it. Keep attacking it until it throws you off. Use your Hylian Shield to get into a defensive position to block all incoming attacks as the Lynel tends to become more aggressive after you’ve mounted it once. Use your arrows to stun them and use Puffshrooms to get some hits in and defeat them.

Which Lynel is the hardest to beat in Tears of the Kingdom?

Silver-Maned Lynel

Sliver-Maned Lynels are the hardest to beat in Tears of the Kingdom. They are incredibly powerful and the strongest of the Lynels. They have a bow that fires three arrows, a melee weapon and a horn which they’ll use to lunge at you, dealing massive damage.

These Lynels also spew giant fireballs and perform an aerial ground pound. During these attacks, make sure to use your glider and gain some distance from the Lynel. Occasionally, these Lynels rest between attacks which gives you the opportunity to mount them. Get some hits in until it throws you off and repeat the process.

Armored Lynel

A Lynel’s weakness in Tears of the Kingdom is its face. An arrow to the face stuns them for a while, which allows you to get some hits in and deal damage. Whenever a Lynel’s about to deliver a big attack, get your bow out and shoot some arrows at its face to stun it.

The strategy to defeat all Lynel types is pretty much the same. Use Puffshrooms to stun them, then mount them to deal decent damage until it throws you off. Get your glider out whenever a Lynel’s about to deliver a ranged attack to gain some distance.

That’s all you need to know about where to find the Lynels and how to defeat them. However, finding the Lynels can take a lot of time without the correct traversal device. Check out our guide below for the ultimate guide to use the Wing device in the game.
