Helldivers 2 Purple Question Mark Bug — Known Fixes Explained

Helldivers 2 has been out for a while, and not only is it smashing records, it’s also getting new bugs with each new update, and perhaps its most recent bug is its weirdest one. This oddly hilarious bug causes a purple question mark to appear over some players’ heads while in gameplay.

It happens most likely due to the game failing to load a weapon, and while it might seem like a visual glitch, it prevents players from accessing and using their weapons and grants them unlimited Stratagems. But there is a temporary fix for this glitch, and it’s pretty simple.

1. How to fix the purple question mark bug in Helldivers 2?

The purple question mark bug in Helldivers 2 can be fixed by heading to the Armory Terminal on the ship and reselecting the weapon according to some players on Reddit. Doing this will reset the weapon and give players their desired weapon.

This bug isn’t as bad as the “Quickplay not working,” but it still hinders gameplay by preventing players from accessing their loadout. But the above fix should do the trick, and if it doesn’t, don’t worry, as there are plenty of other fixes that you should try.

2. Swap Weapons with Another Weapon

Another solution that seems to fix this odd bug is simply swapping weapons with another weapon on the ground. This will remove the purple question marks hanging off players’ heads so that they can access their loadouts without a hitch.

Swapping the weapon with another weapon most likely causes the game to load the weapons in the game, thus removing the purple question mark for good. If this solution doesn’t do the job, then proceed to the next one.

3. Customize Loadout

Since this bug affects loadouts and prevents players from accessing their primary and secondary weapons, simply changing the loadout from the menu can help remove this bug.

You can customize your loadout in the game from your ship’s Armory Terminal. While this is definitely not the ideal way to fix it since the bug affects your loadout in the first place, there’s no harm in giving it a shot.

4. Restart the Game

If all else fails, restart Helldivers 2, as it may iron out any bugs or errors that are affecting the game. Just exit the game, wait for a few minutes, and then restart it to check if the question mark is still there.

Given the current state of the server, this is really not convenient. After all, these workarounds are temporary, and the purple question mark will most likely keep appearing until Arrowhead drops a patch officially which fixes this bug.

The developers are hard at work increasing server stability and ensuring that players have a flawless experience, so they might already be aware of this bug. But if you still want to make sure that they know, contact their support team so they can get a fix out as soon as possible.
