The magical world of Hogwarts Legacy features puzzles and secrets for you to find while exploring. While some puzzles are easy to solve, others are not, in typical Harry Potter fashion. You’ll require the Key of Admittance to unlock a secret gate.
The Key of Admittance can be found in Trophy Room in the Grand Staircase section of Hogwarts. Go up the stairs through the door, turn left, head past the stone dragons and the empty painting to find the final set of stairs. Enter the headmaster’s office and pick the locked doors open to find it.
However, finding the Key of Admittance requires some prerequisites.
Prerequisite 1: You must have the Alohomora spell unlocked in order to pick the locked doors open. You’ll need to level up Alohomora to Level 3 by finding all the Demiguise Moon Statues before you can pick the locked doors.
Prerequisite 2: You will require access to Headmaster Black’s Office. In the main story, this room will become available to you in “The Polyjuice Plot” Quest, right before Niamh Fitzgerald’s Trial. However, there’s a way to access the room earlier and bypass this.
To get access to the room early on in the game, head to the Quad Courtyard Floo Flame in The Grand Staircase section of Hogwarts. Then, mount your broom and head to the very top of The Grand Staircase, until you reach the small three pillars.
You’ll be able to land on the staircase, where there will be two outside entrances that you can access. You will need to have the Alohomora (Level 3) spell to unlock then entrances.
Unlock the door at the top of the staircase next to the stained-glass window, which will give you access to Headmaster Black’s secret office. Obtain the Key of Admittance from the desk inside the room.
How to use the Key of Admittance in Hogwarts Legacy?
The Key of Admittance can be used to unlock a secret door which is found indoors at the top of The Grand Staircase, nearby Headmaster Black’s Office. Head to the Trophy Room Floo Flame and follow the path to the right to reach a locked gate and unlock it.
After you’ve unlocked the first gate, head upstairs to come across another door. Pass through it and turn to the right to find an ornate locked door on which the Key of Admittance can be used.
Once you unlock the door, you’ll find the Quill of Acceptance and Book of Admittance inside the room.
Along with that, there will be a large chest at the left beside the Quill of Acceptance and Book of Admittance, which contains legendary gear and high-value loot.
