How to use Rowland’s Map to follow his trail in Hogwarts Legacy?

The world of Hogwarts Legacy is chock full of quests and activities meant to throw the toughest of magical challenges at you. One quest, in particular, sees the protagonist going on a rescue mission to help Adelaide Oakes’s uncle, Rowland, through a map.

The quest is tricky, so if you have trouble completing it, here’s what you need to know about using Rowland’s Map.

Rowland’s map paints a beautiful picture of where he is, but it doesn’t exactly say how to get there.

  • The Spiral indicates the location where you find this map. That is Rowland’s Campsite. Summon your broom and take off.

  • Exit the Campsite and head southwest to find the river.
  • Follow the river trail west until you reach the Crumbling Tower.
  • Now that you are near the Bandit Camp Castle, use your broom to fly to the smallest enclosed part of the castle and head inside.

  • Defeat the Goblins in this area.
  • Cross the river south and reach the Korrow Ruins Floo flame.
  • Finally, go west from here to reach the Goblin Outpost.
  • Once you enter the Outpost, you must explore the Dungeon to find Rowland.
  • Entering the dungeon will throw you into a scuffle with some goblins. Turn invisible with Disillusionment and sneak around defeating all the Goblins in the first two rooms. If you get caught, then battle and destroy them all.
  • When you’re in the large room with the round metal door in the back, go upstairs and follow the walkway around the room to the boiler mechanism on the second floor.
  •  Light a fire under the boiler using Incendio or Confrigo.

  •  The sizeable round metal door at the back of the room is now unlocked. Go through the metal door.
  •  You will encounter several goblins here. You can either defeat them all or sneak past them to the room on the right (on the ground floor)
  •  Grab Rowland’s Wand from the table.

  •  Leave through the metal door, and when you’re back in the large room, enter the hallway with the orange and purple sphinx banners on the left.
  •  Go down the left tunnel stairs when you see the table.
  • Defeat all the Goblins in here.
  •  Now interact with the large bronze door at the far end of the cavern to free Rowland.

How to Find Rowland Oakes Map in Hogwarts Legacy?

You need to find the map first to locate Rowland Oakes.

Sometime in your playthrough of Hogwarts Legacy, Adelaide Oakes will send you a letter through the Owl Post. She’s afraid that her uncle, Rowland Oakes, has gone missing after having issues with some goblins.

  • Head over to the north side of the Transfiguration Courtyard. Adelaide will be there to discuss your next course of action, naturally heading to Rowland Oakes’ campsite marked on the map.

Quick Tip: Fast travel to Floo Flame at Jackdaw’s Tomb, and then use your broom to reach his camp.

  • After reaching there, eliminate the Goblins.
  • You will find a map atop a box on the north side of the camp. Collect his journal and the map.
