Yellowstone Season 5 Will be the Longest yet and Set Up More Spinoffs

Yellowstone is returning with season 5, and it will be the series’ longest season yet with 14 episodes.

Season 5 of the Paramount series will be a grand event split into two 7-episode parts, with each part introducing upcoming spinoff projects by creator Taylor Sheridan.

Yellowstone Season 5 Will be the Longest yet and Set Up More Spinoffs

As reported by WSJ, the first installment/part will premiere this summer, and set up Tulsa King (previously titled Kansas City), starring Sylvester Stallone as an East Coast mobster freshly out of prison.

The show will follow a plan similar to Yellowstone’s other spinoff series, 1883, and premiere alongside season 5 part 1 on Paramount Network before shifting to Paramount+.

Sheridan’s plans also include Mayor of Kingstown and 1883, which were both renewed for their respective second seasons. Tulsa King will also be set outside the Yellowstone universe, just like Mayor of Kingstown.

The second spinoff series, titled 1932, which is still in its ‘outline’ stage, will launch alongside Yellowstone’s season 5 part 2 later this year and will follow John Dutton, Sr.’s story.

As for 6666, the third Yellowstone spinoff series will debut either later this year or sometime in 2023.

The Yellowstone universe is getting bigger than ever, and thanks to a $200 million production deal with ViacomCBS, Sheridan sure has many more stories to tell.

ViacomCBS Media Networks and MTV Entertainment studios’ chief executive Chris McCarthy stated, “We want to double down on that momentum and not waste it.”

As Yellowstone has quickly become cable’s no. 1 program, its viewers are worried that too many spinoffs under it would lead to the series losing its charm.

As Yellowstone season 4 garnered an average of 10.4 million viewers for Paramount Network – the records have proven Sheridan doesn’t compromise with the quality, so it does seem reasonable to be this ambitious.

With 1883 continuing to lead as Paramount+’s #1 streaming title worldwide, the company might not mind putting all its eggs in Sheridan’s multiple baskets.
