Nothing like exploring the Old Wild West in God of War Style. Evil West is a third-person shooter developed by Flying Wild Hog, first released on November 22, 2022, for PlayStation (4, 5), Xbox (One, Series X/S), and Windows.
Players control vampire hunter Jesse Rentier who must protect America’s Wild West from supernatural enemies of the state.
Gamers have likened the combat style and mechanics of the game to God of War, Devil May Cry, Assassin’s Creed, Evil Dead, Remnant from the Ashes, Doom, and Borderland, among others. But the game’s western horror hack-and-slash has secured its place as the ultimate vampire slayer shooting game in recent history.
Evil West takes 10-12 hours to beat the main campaign. You can expect to spend another 2-4 hours to finish the extras. A completionist run (100% gameplay) takes anywhere between 15-17 hours. The duration depends on which mode and difficulty level you play.
1. How fast can you finish Evil West main campaign? How many chapters in Evil West?
Evil West has a total of 16 missions or chapters that are meant to be played primarily in a linear style.
There are no side quests in the game, but there are unique treasure chests that will give you perks, upgrades and cool skins. These chests can be found throughout the main campaigns, but you can complete the missions without having found all of them, too.
The 16 missions can be completed in a minimum time of 8 hours and a maximum time of 14-15 hours. If you spend time on the chests, you can even take a time of up to 22 full hours, and this isn’t even 100% of the game. Merely exploring the Wild West has allowed leisurely players to cross the 20-hour limit.

2. How long to complete 100% of Evil West?
Most completionists take an average of 16 hours to finish the whole of Evil West. But obtaining all the trophies, achievements, and collectibles, and fully immersing in the story-driven campaign to save the Old West, has taken players up to 68 hours to 100% finish Evil West.
You can craft your own playstyle and experiment with your weapons to defeat the bloodthirsty creatures plaguing the American frontiers; ripping apart the The Sanguisuge Monsters in all the different ways possible is, well, just a bloody treat.
There are 29 achievements in Evil West out of which 13 of them are secret ones. The 30th trophy, of course, is the Platinum, which you’ll get once you’ve gotten all the other trophies.
There are difficulty-related achievements, and trophies, which can be collected upon replaying the missions. Most of these don’t necessitate an online connection.
As for the collectibles, there are 5 types – lore, cash, chests, perks, and weapon upgrades. In order to complete 100% of Evil West, you must obtain all 30 trophies (enter the Evil difficulty mode to get the final trophy) and all the collectibles.
Some collectibles, like cash, can be farmed, but most are hidden around in nooks through the various missions.
3. What to do after finishing Evil West? Does Evil West have New Game Plus?
If you’re done with the main campaign, you can go back to the mission list in the Lore section and go to a mission of your choice. Collect any unique chests you might have missed. You can also opt for a new playthrough with New Game Plus.
NG+ in Evil West doesn’t have new content but you’ll find that the difficulty is higher. You’ll also have to play with the same character that previously finished the original story.
All character progress will be saved but the story itself will be tougher in terms of battles. You can also collect the secrets that you missed during the first playthrough.
4. How many difficulty levels in Evil West?
There are 4 difficulty level in Evil West, namely, Story, Normal, Hard, and Evil.
The Story mode is rewarding for players who are only invested in the narrative. The Normal mode guarantees a well-rounded experience, while the Hard and Evil modes are challenging and are for those who’ve already played the game once.
Some players find the combat a bit repetitive, so if you do want a bit of a challenge slaying the monsters, pick Hard.
Also, if you want the Weird West Superhero trophy and want to 100% the game, make sure you play on Evil difficulty.
This doesn’t really need repeating, but the higher the difficulty, the higher the duration of the game. So, playing on Evil might take you more time than anticipated; you might even cross 60 hours if you’re really in it to win it.
5. Does Evil West have co-op? Does the main campaign have co-op? Does Evil West have cross-play?
Evil West can be played in multiplayer or cooperative mode as well as single-player mode. You have the option of playing the entire main story or campaign in co-op mode. You can also play multiplayer from the first mission in NG+.
What you need to know is that Evil West is mainly meant to be a single-player experience. If you decide to play with a friend or partner, note that the achievements and trophies, along with the game progression, are only retained by the host.
Additionally, if you want to play Evil West with a friend across platforms, you’re going to have to wait, because as of now, Evil West does not have the cross-play option. But since the game is just a few months old, we can hope for a cross-play update in the future.
6. Is Evil West worth the money?
Evil West has gotten really mixed reviews through the spectrum. While some diss the poor performance mode and co-op features, some strongly recommend the game despite its evident drawbacks.
The game is a bit steep, priced at $50 for PC and $60 for PlayStation and Xbox. Most players are waiting for the 1440p 60fps resolution boost patch to come before spending their money on 1080p, especially players that are playing on a 4k television screen.
While the game looks bad on consoles, playing on PC is, cheaper and better, given the 30fps lock. The game has a ton of fast-paced action and gore which would definitely have benefitted from better specs, but the way the story unfolds just makes the game a really fun experience.
It’s old-fashioned in that it’s a good ol’ pulpy killing campaign. If you’re a fan of mindless slashing, this game is definitely for you.
