It’s finally time for us to gear up for The Bad Batch season 2! Season 1 ended in 2021, leaving us all in an air of mystery. I am pretty excited to know what season 2 has in store for us, especially because we have a few loose ends to pursue.
It had been confirmed earlier that The Bad Batch season 2 will feature a time jump. You can rest assured that it won’t be too huge to make a great difference to the story. But do keep in mind that season 2 definitely does not kick off right after the events of the Season 1 finale.
This brings us to the question of where The Bad Batch season 2 stands in the Clone Wars timeline. When exactly does S2 take place?
Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 2 takes place a few months after season 1. This is approximately set at end of 19 BBY or early 18 BBY.

The Bad Batch S2 Timeline Explained
In terms of the films and TV shows, The Bad Batch season 2 (just like season 1) is set between Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Solo: A Star Wars Story. In more specific detail, it is set in late 19 BBY/early 18 BBY after the events of S1 which are set in mid 19 BBY.
Timeline-wise, not much has changed in season 2 as compared to season 1. Season 1 ended on an emotional note, with Clone Force 99 struggling to survive the Empire’s attack on Tipoca City. Naturally, we were left wondering what was next for Omega and Clone Force 99.
Hours before the season 2 premiere, producer Jennifer Corbett confirmed in an exclusive interview with The Direct that the duration of the time jump between Seasons 1 and 2 is “a couple of months”.
This is reflected in S2’s very first episode — it starts off fresh, instead of picking up from the events of S1’s finale. A few months have clearly passed and Omega has fully been indoctrinated within the Bad Batch, all set to go off on another heist mission.
What has changed in The Bad Batch S2?
You may expect that due to a time jump, there may be some major changes in S2. Thankfully, since it’s only a few months, the changes are not monumental.
One, in particular, is about Omega’s look and personality, which producer Jennifer Cortega explains, perfectly embodies the time jump. If you notice Omega’s look in the Season 2 pictures and trailer, she clearly looks a little more “grown-up”. She also now has a helmet and is a little more trained in combat than in the Season 1 finale.
When we first meet her, it’s been a couple of months since the end of Season 1, and she’s a little more trained, has her helmet, has a new look, and she’s really just blending in with them. It’s very much exploring her growth as things get a little more complicated for the group and for the galaxy.”

Another “change” would be the Bad Batch becoming even more determined about overthrowing the Empire. If we look at the timeline, we’re inching closer to the Rebels arc, where the beloved Rebel Alliance will start forming and making plans of their own.
This makes The Bad Batch S2 even more interesting — it’s time to load up on snacks as we munch through the episodes of Season 2. Happy watching!
