Hogwarts Legacy, barely a month old, has managed to set and break multiple records worldwide. Avalanche Software’s open-world RPG has stirred up the Harry Potter fandom and the gaming world.
According to WB Games, Hogwarts Legacy has had $850 million in global sales. The game has sold 12 million units in a fortnight of launch across all platforms. It also broke the Twitch record for the most-watched single-player game. It became the biggest WB games title on steam with 340373,139 concurrent players.
WB games unveiled some notable stats attributed to the game along with this. As per President David Haddad, the game has been played for 267 million hours in just two weeks, outperforming likes of Elden Ring Digital sales by 56%.
In-game, this translated to 1.25 billion dark wizards defeated, 393 million magic plants grown, and over 242 magical potions brewed. Haddad went on to call Hogwarts Legacy a “long-term franchise” and sees a bright future ahead.
Warner Brothers also reported an overall 300% increase on the Wizarding World Websites.
Haddad wasn’t wrong when he said in a statement, “Our development team at Avalanche delivered an amazing, high-quality Wizarding World experience that truly fulfills the fan fantasy of life at Hogwarts, and our publishing teams have executed a globally impactful launch campaign.”
Many fans have already set up expectations for a follow-up. However, there have been no announcements for a possible sequel, DLC, or multi-player elements.
Despite that, creative players have added their multi-player mods to the game. There are rumors of a Hogwarts Legacy TV show, though no official announcement has been made.
Potterheads and gaming fans are surely up for a treat in the coming years, and WB Games would surely be excited to live up to the expectations they have set with such a well-developed game.
