A new trailer for Disney’s upcoming horror comedy, Hocus Pocus 2, was released at Disney’s D23 Expo, featuring the return of the Sanderson sisters from the previous film. Hocus Pocus 2 is all set to premiere on Disney+ on September 30, 2022.
The film is a sequel to the 1993 classic Halloween film, Hocus Pocus, which followed an evil but comical trio of witches who cause trouble after being inadvertently resurrected by a teenage boy in Salem. The upcoming sequel is set 375 years after the events of the first film.
The film follows a young teenager and aspiring witch named Becca, who accidentally summons the Sanderson sisters once again on Halloween night, using a dark flame candle she found at the local magic shop. The magic shop was also the Sanderson Sisters’ former home.
The cast includes Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy, who will be reprising their roles from the first film. Anne Fletcher is the director of the upcoming horror comedy.

The trailer begins with the younger version of the trio running through the forests. A voiceover says, “I banish thee from Salem, forever.” Then, Hannah Waddingham wishes the sisters a happy 16th birthday, which marks the birth of the witches.
The trailer then shifts to the present, set 375 years later, where we meet Becca, a young aspiring witch. The owner of her local magic shop, Sam, gifts her a strange, spooky candle on her 16th birthday.
It is clear from the trailer that it is this spooky candle that ends up summoning the Sanderson sisters back to Salem once again, when Becca and her friend light it up in the woods. The trailer is full of surprises, including a talking book and a good zombie.
In the woods, Winifred reveals how the witches hope to live past sunrise. According to her, if they wish to live past sunrise, they have to “steal the souls” of Becca and her friends.
Another shot involves the trio inside a pharmacy, tasting bath salts and asking the children to get some salt so it tastes better when they eat them. There are various glimpses of slapstick humor, such as a scene where Winifred asks her sisters to “spread out” and Sarah takes it literally, almost slouching into splits.
The trailer ends with Gilbert digging a grave, which awakens a “good zombie” aka Billy Butcherson. The trailer promises the film to be an enjoyable and fun horror comedy, set on the night of Halloween.
The film will premiere on Disney+ on September 30, 2022.
