Episode 15, titled ‘God-Entertaining Chapter, Part 4,’ unfolded a lot of mysteries. We learnt how Rika was able to end the misery in the previous seasons.
While Rika confronted Satoko and threw the Onigiri-no-Ryuuou sword after taking it from her hand, a miracle happened, and Hanyuu got hold of it.
Hanyuu threatened Eua with it, making her escape the Sea of Fragments. Luck was finally on Rika’s side as her best friend, Satoko, finally let her go to St. Lucia after killing her for years in loops.
The two promised to meet each other from time to time.
Everything in the town of Hinamizawa returned to normal, and Hanyuu smilingly looked over them from the Furude shrine.

Episode 16 Preview & Speculation
It was difficult to understand how Rika forgave Satoko when Satoko killed her for thousands of years and kept her away from her dream of going to St. Lucia. Nevertheless, we all could agree with the definition of friendship that Keiichi narrated.
The series also failed to give us an explanation about who exactly Eua and Hanyuu are.
As we saw Eua transforming into a young girl like Hanyuu, it can be said that they are two personalities of Oyashiro-sama, just like how a human also has a bad and good side.
To add, whether Satoko and Rika are free from the cycle of loops is still unclear. My theory is that they are still immortal, and Satoko’s witch side could return anytime to make Rika’s life hell. If the theory turns out to be true, I guess it will be covered in the next season.
The Watanagashi-hen arc managed to give us an answer to a lot of our doubts, but there is still a lot to answer, and we hope an announcement for another season will be made soon.

Episode 15 Recap
Hanyuu keeps claiming that a miracle will happen and save everyone in Hinamizawa from the tragedy. In response, Eua punches Hanyuu hard, making her fall to the ground.
Meanwhile, Rika throws the Onigiri-no-Ryuuou into the river and begins punching Satoko.
The two argue about who betrayed whom first in their relationship. The sword travels deep down into the river and somehow ends up in Hanyuu’s hand. As soon as Hanyuu gets a hold of it, she attacks Eua and cuts her horns.
As a result, Eua’s size reduces, and she transforms into a young girl. Hanyuu reminds Eua of her promise to leave on witnessing a miracle, so Eua departs from the Sea of Fragments.
Meanwhile, Rika and Satoko continue fighting with each other. On the one hand, Satoko demands Rika to stay with her in Hinamizawa as she doesn’t want to study for the entrance exam of St. Lucia.
On the other hand, Rika insists Satoko come with her to St. Lucia.
After a while, the two give up on fighting and lie next to each other on a riverbank before being found by their friends. While Mion drives them all back home, she tells them that growing apart doesn’t mean their relationship has ended.
Keiichi adds that friends can remain friends even if they’re not always with each other. On realizing the true meaning of friendship, Rika and Satoko join hands. The plotline jumps to 1987, and Rika leaves for St. Lucia while Satoko stays in Hinamizawa.
As Satoko and everyone else come to the station to see Rika off, Satoko and Rika promise to see each other soon. The duo mutually agree that they need to be apart sometimes so they won’t grow sick of each other, being trapped in loops for eternity.
Time passes, and everything happens normally in the town of Hinamizawa. Hanyuu smiles while watching the fate of the main characters from the Furude shrine.
