HIDIVE Will Stream the Dub & Sub of ‘The Eminence in Shadow’ in October

The anime series ‘The Eminence in Shadow’ adds an original spin to the standard isekai genre by showing Cid, a main character with ambitions that differ from those of the typical hero.

Cid, who defies the norms of the isekai genre with his relentless determination to annihilate his opponents in the most brutal and horrific manner imaginable, is one of the major reasons the anime series was a huge success, and Cid is not stopping as he returns for more mayhem.

On Thursday, HIDIVE announced that it will stream the second television anime season of Daisuke Aizawa’s ‘The Eminence in Shadow’ (Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute!) light novel series with both English subtitles and an English dub on the same day it airs in Japan. HIDIVE is currently streaming the anime’s English-subtitled trailer.

Season 2 of The Eminence in Shadow will see Cid and the Shadow Garden pay a visit to the Lawless City. The anime will adapt the third volume of the light novel for the upcoming season.

HIDIVE and Kadokawa will hold a world premiere screening of the anime at Anime Expo this weekend. The main staff and cast is also returning for the second season at the studio Nexus.

About The Eminence in Shadow

The Eminence in Shadow, a manga by Daisuke Aizawa, started serialization in 2018. It is scheduled to receive an anime in October 2022. An anime film, titled ‘The Eminence in Shadow: Lost Echoes,’ was announced in December 2023.

Cid, the protagonist, is obsessed with becoming a hidden mastermind. Being reincarnated in an isekai world gives him the chance to act on his wishes and build up his power beyond the notice of people.

After rescuing an elf, he forms a squad who are supposed to fight the Diabolos cult which is just a figment of his imagination. However, the cult turns out to be true and now he actually has an enemy to face.
