Stranded on a remote island in the Human realm, Vermilio wanders around the shore and forest to track down clues to get back. She eventually runs into a fully furnished wooden house on the beach that Helck built in a day.

He notices her standing in the rain and takes her into the house, setting her up with a bedroom and food. The following morning, she discovers that there is a remote village close by.

Now with the boat complete, Helck and Vermilio only had to figure out where to sail. Before they could discuss this, however, an old lady interrupted their conversation and asked them to follow her.

She’s likely a demon who recognizes both of them and is probably going to be of help. Since she seems to be psychic, she may know the direction of the Demonic Kingdom and some information about what happened.

3. Recap of Episode 5

Azudra receives the news that Vermilio has gone missing and begins freaking out. Meanwhile, she enjoys the nice wind breeze and eating fresh fruits from the forest. She hears some rhythmic sound in the air, realizes it must be Helck, and runs toward it.

On the shore of the sea, Helck has built a comfortable cabin in a day’s work. He sneaks up on her when she lowers her guard, and she goes into a battle stance. He explains that he built the house so they could spend the night safely.

It begins raining, and they run into the house to take cover. He says that since there are a lot of trees in the area, they could quickly build a boat and get back to the Demon Realm. All his actions so far make him look like an ally to the Demons, so Anne is starting to reconsider her suspicions.

Azudra finds a device that can roughly track Vermilio’s position using a lock of her hair. They put a spell on a map of the Demonic Realm, but it leads outside the area, and they realize that she is way outside the continent.

Helck helps Vermilio with some fishing, although he jumps into the ocean and grabs it with his hands. In the morning, a pink creature brings breakfast sent by the Village Chief. Vermilio asks to see the village and notices everybody being wary of her presence.

Wandering into the forest, Vermilio notices Helck cutting down trees with his bare hands. He finishes building the boat before they can even figure out the direction of the Demonic Continent. Before they can discuss leaving, a creepy old lady interrupts their conversation.

Helck is a manga series written and illustrated by Nanaki Nanao. It was serialized online on Shogakukan’s Ura Sunday Website and MangaONE app from May 2014 to December 2017. It has been collected into 12 volumes.

A short spin-off manga titled Piwi: Fushigi na Ikimono was also released in 2018, with its chapters collected in one volume. Another prequel manga series, titled Völundio: Divergent Sword Saga is currently ongoing since its launch in August 2020.

Three months have passed since the last Demon Lord was defeated. While humans enjoy a time of peace, the Demon realm organizes a tournament to elect its next Lord. One of the challengers is a human named Helck, who hates humanity. Vamirio, one of the four elite demons, is suspicious and tries to know more about Helck’s truth.
