Azudra and the Demon forces manage to resist the Winged Knights’ invasions for some more time in episode 12 of Helck, titled “The Spirit of Faith.”
Since the humans keep reviving and coming back stronger, the Demons find it harder to defend against their constant attacks. Although they’re winning the fights right now, once they all unlock hero-like power, it will be challenging to win against them.
Meanwhile, Vermilio and Helck steadily return to the Castle while facing multiple obstacles.

Helck has trusted Vermilio with the Hero-Killer sword, which she’s supposed to use on him if he goes out of control. However, this situation will likely never occur. Instead, this weapon could be an essential item against the humans once they unlock that power.
Azudra is almost running out of power, and it’s only a matter of time before the humans pull off a successful invasion. Helck and Vermilio likely won’t reach it before the Castle falls, but they can retake it with the power of Helck.

The Winged Knights do not relent in their continuous attacks against the Demonic Kingdom. The forces heading to Castle Urum were intercepted successfully, and Azudra and his special assault team managed to retake Castle Thor.
Since the heroes can constantly reincarnate, they struggle to do anything but hold on as long as possible. Azudra begins to feel the aftermath of always using magic spells, but he must also help in strategic planning.
He uses the magic doll to find Vermilio’s location, and they realize she has finally managed to reach the continent. With each reincarnation, the humans are starting to get more hero-like abilities and strength. Asta almost gets noticed because of this extra keen observation, but she barely manages to escape.
Azudra and the others discuss the topic of Helck, hoping that Vermilio is bringing him along as an ally. Meanwhile, they constantly battle against strong monsters on the way to the Castle. During the night, they rest near a big rock and cook some food.
Helck pulls out a broken sword named the Hero Killer and says it has the devastating power to kill a hero. He offers it to Vermilio and says that if things get out of control, she can use this to kill him. Vermilio realizes the implication of what he’s saying.
She had doubts about Helck’s loyalty after he went all out against the Wandering Warrior, and he noticed it, too. Vermilio reassures him that all her doubts are cleared now and that she trusts him completely, but he insists that she hold on to the sword regardless.

Helck is a manga series written and illustrated by Nanaki Nanao. It was serialized online on Shogakukan’s Ura Sunday Website and MangaONE app from May 2014 to December 2017. It has been collected into 12 volumes.
A short spin-off manga titled Piwi: Fushigi na Ikimono was also released in 2018, with its chapters collected in one volume. Another prequel manga series, titled Völundio: Divergent Sword Saga is currently ongoing since its launch in August 2020.
