The anime movie “Gintama: the Final” is set to be released on January 8, 2021.

As you can see, the visual poster for the movie features the whole Gintama cast in an intense battle-like background, ready for their final fight.

The trailer focuses on the manga series’s final arc as the Gintama gang fights their one last battle to save Japan from the invasion of aliens.

The movie trailer also features a new theme song by SPYAIR named “Wadachi (rut).” The movie will also feature a song from the Rock Band DOES, which is yet to be titled.

With Gintama’s reputation of teasing the fans with potential endings for the series and then following up with more storylines, the fans were left questioning whether it is the last movie of the franchise.

The trailer reassures the confused fans stating that the movie trailer is the “FINAL ONE.”

With Warner Brothers as the production head, the movie also has the former voice cast reprising their roles.

About Gintama

The story is set in an alternate-history late-Edo period, where humanity is attacked by aliens called “Amanto.”

Edo Japan’s samurai fight to defend Earth, but the shōgun cowardly surrenders when he realizes the aliens’ power.

The series focuses on an eccentric samurai, Gintoki Sakata, who works as an odd-jobs freelancer. Although the story is mostly episodic, a few story arcs and recurring antagonists develop.

Gintama was serialized on Weekly Shonen Jump from December of 2003 to September of 2019. The manga by Hideaki Sorachi, had a 367-episode long anime series adaptation, which ran from 2006 to 2018.
