Gossip Girl S2 Images Confirm Georgina Sparks’ Return to the Upper East Side

New images from the upcoming Gossip Girl season 2 confirms the return of Georgina Sparks, a notorious socialite from the original show. Played by Michelle Trachtenberg, Georgina appeared in the original 2007 teen drama several times and had a major role to play in a couple of seasons.

The Gossip Girl reboot premiered on HBO Max in July 2021. It follows an entirely new group of upper-class teenagers located in the same universe as the original show. These teenagers live in the Upper East Side in New York and attend the same preppy high school as the original gang.

The series did not gain overwhelmingly positive reviews. Many claimed it was not even close to the charm of the original series. However, it was still greenlit for a second season. The show has made various references towards the original Gossip Girl characters to gain the attention of the same audience that made the 2007 series a massive hit.

The show also features Kristen Bell as the anonymous narrator and the titular Gossip Girl once again. However, only Blair Waldorf’s stepfather Cyrus and her maid, Dorota have made actual appearances until now. But it seems like another iconic character from the original series is all set to make an appearance in the show’s upcoming season.

Georgina Sparks was a significant supporting character in the original series. First introduced as Serena Van der Woodsen’s troublemaking friend, she soon became involved in few of the most scandalous plotlines in the series. One of the storylines featured Georgina convincing Dan Humphrey that he is the father of her son, Milo.

Interestingly, Georgina’s son Milo is a series regular in the Gossip Girl reboot. He made an appearance as Zoya Lott’s accomplice in the reboot. The show teased a Georgina Sparks return much earlier, in a teaser from June.

An exclusive season 2 image released by Teen Vogue features Michelle Trachtenberg as the iconic Georgina Sparks, who is all set to make her return in the Gossip Girl universe. Check out the image below:

The image features Georgina Sparks all dressed up at a fancy event. She has a familiar expression on her face, which means she is seemingly plotting something scandalous!

HBO Max has also confirmed that Gossip Girl season 2 will premiere on December 1 on the streaming platform. The other images depict the main gang at school, and mean girls Luna La and Monet de Haan dressed up for an event.

In the original series, Georgina Sparks returned to Upper East Side only when the gang were seemingly drama-free. It seems like her appearance in the reboot will also come at a similar time to spice-up the show.

It is possible that Georgina will join or at least help out her son Milo in his endeavors, which means she could have a connection to Zoya too. It remains to be seen how Georgina will fit into the new gang, considering she belongs to a completely different generation.

However, she could definitely offer more information about what the original gang is now up to. Since she may have been in contact with Blair, Serena, Dan or Chuck, she could talk about or reveal what they are up to during the timeline of the reboot.

Moreover, in the original show, Georgina even took up the role of Gossip Girl for a brief period of time. We could see her being involved in the same way along with the teachers in the reboot.

No matter what it is, Georgina Sparks spells drama with a capital-D! So, we can all hope for an entertaining Gossip Girl season 2.
