Funimation Adds Platinum End to Fall 2021 Lineup

One of the most anticipated anime titles this season is the upcoming Platinum End. The story comes from the creators of Death Note and Bakuman, which is the obvious reason behind the hype surrounding the anime.

Instead of Shinigami, the series has angels who select thirteen candidates who are granted mysterious powers to fight other candidates. The candidates then engage in an Among Us style deathmatch for the position of God.

With the debut only hours away, we now know where to watch it.

Funimation has announced that they will be streaming the upcoming Platinum End anime from October 8, 2021.

The anime will have 24 episodes with an uninterrupted run till March 2022. This will cover the entire story of the manga. Given there are only 58 chapters, be prepared for an action-packed adaptation.

The protagonist of the story, Mirai Kakehashi is a middle school graduate who is fed up with life because of his abusive relatives. After the death of his parents, nothing seems to be going his way.

Sad and depressed, he attempts suicide when he is saved by an angel named Nasse, who grants him supernatural powers to contest for the position of God.

Even though the story is very different from Ohba-Obata’s previous works, it seems to have the potential to deliver on many aspects that we have come to expect from the duo.

The mind games, complex strategies to uncover secret identities, and inner moral crisis that comes with killing, this story has everything to make it a classic.

About Platinum End

Platinum End is a Japanese manga series written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata. It was serialized in Shueisha’s Jump Square monthly magazine from November 2015 to January 2021.

An anime television series adaptation by Signal.MD will premiere on TBS in October 2021.

The series follows Mirai Kakehashi, a student who attempts suicide but is rescued by his guardian angel, Nasse.

Nasse not only has vowed to protect him but bestows him with special powers as he is also one of 13 candidates chosen by different angels to take the role of God, who is to retire in 999 days.
