Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood – Ending Explained!

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is a masterpiece in its own right, and it’s no surprise that it’s widely regarded as one of the greatest anime shows ever made.

Unlike other anime that disappoint you with an unsatisfying ending or leave you hanging, FMAB wrapped everything up with a neat little bow. It was perfect from start to finish, and its conclusion was one of the most satisfying and emotional moments in anime history.

Edward defeated Father in the final battle and sacrificed his alchemy to bring Alphonse back to life. The show ended with Edward proposing to Winry and the couple having two children – a son and a daughter.

What Happens in the Ending of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood?

I. The Ultimate Showdown

The final battle in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood was nothing short of epic! Father became an all-knowing, perfect being after opening the Gate of the planet and absorbing God itself.

Everyone was in serious trouble until Hohenheim used his Philosopher’s Stone to hold Father off. The Alkahestry reversal plan was put into action, bringing Father to a mortal state.

Father wasn’t going down without a fight, though. He threw out one final last of energy, but Hohenheim saved the Elrics by taking the full brunt of it. What a hero! His sacrifice inspired everyone to fight even harder.

Father was almost out of Philosopher’s Stones, but Ed’s automail arm was busted so he couldn’t use alchemy. Al reversed the exchange his brother made long ago and sacrificed his soul to restore Ed’s arm.

Edward used both arms to launch a barrage of attacks against Father, eventually punching a hole through his chest. Father was sent to the Gate, where he met the Truth and was exterminated.

II. The Price of Alchemy

After defeating Father, Edward performed human transmutation on himself, sending himself to the Gate of Truth. He sacrificed his ability to use alchemy to bring Alphonse to life in his original body. Alphonse returned to the physical world, and the brothers were finally reunited in their true forms.

The price of alchemy was a central theme of FMAB and it served as a powerful metaphor for the idea that all actions have consequences, and that the pursuit of power and knowledge must always be tempered by a willingness to accept the costs.

The Elric brothers’ journey was a powerful exploration of this idea, as they learned the hard way that sacrifice was a necessary part of the equation.

III. Happily Ever After

Once the dust had finally settled, Colonel Mustang was offered a deal to help rebuild Ishval in exchange for a Philosopher’s Stone. Scar also pitched in to help with the reconstruction efforts.

Meanwhile, Edward and Alphonse returned to their hometown Resembool and reunited with Winry. Two years later, Al jetted to Xing with Jerso and Zampano to learn alkahestry, while Edward stayed in the west.

The show ended on a sweet note, with Edward proposing a deal to Winry before he left. We also got to see what happened to our other beloved characters: Van Hohenheim was buried next to Trisha; Ling became the emperor of Xing; Mustang and Riza were rebuilding the east.

And let’s not forget about Ed’s two cute kiddos. All in all, a pretty neat way to wrap up the story.

Difference Between the Endings of FMAB and FMA

The endings of FMAB and FMA are like two peas in a pod…if one of those peas was really sour.

In FMA, the door of Truth leads to a portal to another world where Ed loses his alchemy and gets trapped in the real world during World War I, leaving Al on the other side.

FMAB’s ending is a whole different story. Overall, the ending of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is much happier and provides a more satisfying conclusion after years of hardship in both series.

Uncovering The Truth About “The Truth”

In the world of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, “Truth” is a god-like being that controls all the secrets of alchemy and puts humans in their place when they try to act all high and mighty.

But Truth has a more powerful message to convey. The character of Truth appears to serve as a teacher, imparting a lesson in humility and encouraging humans to be themselves rather than aspiring to be like him.

The show emphasizes that humans must recognize their limitations and learn to respect the natural laws that govern the universe, or they will suffer dire consequences.
