As Hiraku ponders the importance of having a constant water supply, he makes life easier by building a vast reservoir using his excess wood to construct a waterway. This funnels straight into a brand-new wheat farm, making it even more helpful.

Next episode, we will see what Hiraku will do with the workforce he now has on the farm, making it much easier to expand, but he also has to take measures to ensure they are all properly sheltered and fed.

We also see an insight into the dog Kuro’s backstory, and he mentions a giant bear that was able to injure him severely. This might hint at the next episode, where the bear might appear again.

Recap of Episode 4

Hiraku starts the day and finds a big bee trapped by his spider pet; he decides to keep it alive and finds a new nest within one of the shelters he built. He doesn’t want to destroy it and thinks of making a flower farm nearby.

He begins working and digs a vast reservoir and hasn’t decided what to build out of it yet. He needs a pathway to connect it to the water source, and he chooses to use wood since it is already in plenty.

The path also starts bringing in a lot of fish from the Forest of Death. The fish are supposedly dangerous but seem harmless when immediately cut up by Hiraku. He prepares it as he would back home, and none of them have eaten anything as delicious.

He starts building a rice paddy, and everyone watches as he plows it at incredible speeds and then connects it to the water reservoir to fill it with water. He enlists their help for the next part, where they begin planting the seedlings.

Zabuton’s children were helpful too, and eventually, the farm grew into a beautiful wheat field with a plentiful harvest. Now that they have the wheat ready, they have to thresh them and cook the rice in a kettle.

He asks Lu for her help lighting the flame, and she uses her magic to quickly light it up and cook the rice to perfect steamy quality. He folds them into rice balls, and each of them tries it out and is happily surprised.

He also adds salmon to counter the salty taste, making it a good dish. Next up on their itinerary, he needs to take a bath in order to promote hygiene on their farm since everybody is working hard in the mud.

One of the girls suggests using slimes instead; when they put them in the water or wherever they need to be cleaned, the slimes absorb all the waste and purify the source. He teaches them how to use the bath and has to show them himself.

He finally remembers the joy of getting into the bath since he wasn’t allowed to when hospitalized. The girls all get into the tub with him, and he is severely embarrassed. The following day he finds even more elves.

Since the amount of residents has increased, they need to make some improvements to the house, too, and begin working on it immediately. We also see an insight into the dog Kuro’s backstory, a lonely life until he meets another dog.

On his multiple adventures, he encountered dangerous bears and was severely injured, but eventually came across the farm and was taken under the care of Hiraku.

Farming Life in Another World is an isekai manga by Kinosuke Naito. It was first launched in 2016 and will receive an anime in 2023.

The manga focuses on Kiraku, a middle-aged man who dies of overwork. A deity takes pity on him and transports him into another world with a younger and healthy body with additional powers.
