Fans are on the fence about the inclusion of Favor Tokens in AC: Mirage

Assassin’s Creed Mirage has received an excellent reception for all the old features it brought back and the handful of new features it included in the game.

In Assassin’s Creed: Mirage, players can earn Favor Tokens, grouped into Scholar, Merchant, and Power Tokens. Only these tokens can be used to leverage the skill of these groups instead of the usual currency, Dirhams.

What are Tokens for in Assassin's Creed Mirage? | How to Use Tokens in AC Mirage?

The Favor Tokens can be earned by completing contracts and pickpocketing unsuspecting people in the walled city of Baghdad successfully.

Once earned, the Scholar Token can bribe entertainers to distract guards or scholars when on a quest. The Merchant tokens allow players to get discounts at shops or bribe people during select searches.

The Power tokens, arguably the most valuable tokens, allow the players to hire muscles in the form of mercenaries, rebels, and guards to sneak into places.

The power tokens are alternatively used to reduce notoriety in AC: Mirage. The reason that sets this system apart from other token systems in earlier AC games is the fact that players are now forced to interact with this system.

Ubisoft Bordeaux promised a game that relies on stealth and is similar to the older AC titles. If the players choose not to utilize the token mechanic, the game becomes significantly more complex as they cannot bribe guards to sneak in or distract guards with entertainers.

Quite literally, in the world of AC: Mirage, money is not everything. The in-world functional currency of stealth is the Favor Tokens. Some fans, as always, have some complaints.

They are complaining that Dirham has little to no use in the world since most of the items required to progress in-game can be found with little exploration.

However, the more accepting part of the fan base says that including the Favor Tokens helps with the world-building. It feels more immersive, almost like the Hidden Ones operate a network throughout Baghdad with their currency.

Ubisoft Bordeaux’s unique take on ensuring that players go through the side-quest makes even more sense, given that AC: Mirage has a smaller map and contained gameplay than AC: Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla.

Players are already parkouring through the roofs of Baghdad, taking Leap of Faiths, and petting cats on the streets of 9th-Century Baghdad in Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
