Great Runes are special Key Items dropped by Demigod bosses in Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree. They can be equipped at any Site of Grace. However, they are only available for use after restoring its power at their respective Divine Tower.
Additionally, a player can also consume a Rune Arc which grants the blessing of the equipped Great Rune. You see, there’s so much that goes on behind being a Tarnished!
List of Great Runes
Here are all the Great Runes in Elden Ring:
1Godrick’s Great Rune
The Great Rune of the shardbearer Godrick, devoid of any benediction.
Seek the Divine Tower of Limgrave, which stands beyond the great bridge from Stormveil Castle.
Drop: Godrick the Grafted
Effect: Boosts all stats by 5%
2Rykard’s Great Rune
Rykard was amongst the children of Rennala and Radagon, who became demigod stepchildren after Radagon’s union with Queen Marika.
But Rykard fed himself to the blasphemous serpent, Great Rune and all.
Drop: Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy
Effect: Restores 80 HP + 7% of total HP after defeating enemies
3Radahn’s Great Rune
Radahn was amongst the children of Rennala and Radagon, who became demigod stepchildren after Radagon’s union with Queen Marika.
The Great Rune burns, to resist the encroachment of the scarlet rot.
Drop: Starscourge Radahn
Effect: Increases HP, FP, and stamina by 15%
4Morgott’s Great Rune
Morgott’s Great Rune is the anchor ring that houses the base, and proves two things:
That the Omen King was born of the golden lineage, and that he was indeed the Lord of Leyndell.
Drop: Morgott, the Omen King
Effect: Significantly raises max HP
5Mohg’s Great Rune
Mohg and Morgott are twin brothers, and their Great Runes are naturally similar.
But Mohg’s rune is soaked in accursed blood, from his devout love for the wretched mire that he was born into far below the earth.
Drop: Mohg, Lord of Blood
Effect: Grants a blood blessing to phantoms
6Malenia’s Great Rune
The blessing of this half-rotted rune reduces the healing power of Flask of Crimson Tears.
Malenia is daughter to Queen Marika and Radagon, and her Great Rune should have been the most sacred of all.
Drop: Malenia, Blade of Miquella
Effect: Attacks after taking damage recover HP
7Great Rune of the Unborn
Perfects those who have been born anew.
Children born anew by Rennala are all frail and short-lived.
Imperfect beings, each and all
Drop: Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon
Effect: Perfects rebirth
8Phantom Great Rune
Enemies inside the invaded world receive a blessing of blood, which boosts their attack power when blood loss occurs nearby. HP recovers when blessed enemies defeat a player.
Drop: Obtained as an PVP only item
Effect: Gives blessing of blood to enemies
9Miquella’s Great Rune
A Great Rune relinquished by Miquella. Broken and bereft of its bounty, it retains naught but the power to resist charms. Miquella set off for the tower enshrouded by shadow, abandoning everything—his golden flesh, his blinding strength, even his fate. All in an effort to bury the original sin. To embrace the whole of it, and be reborn as a new god.
Drop: Scadutree Avatar
Effect: Retains the power to resist charms
Best Great Runes in Shadow of Erdtree
- Rykard’s Great Runes
This rune restores the player’s HP and heals 7% of their maximum health. However, there is a catch. It is only applicable after you defeat an enemy. So, it is extremely useful when you are facing a swarm of opponents.
Go to the Divine Tower of West Altus to use this Great Rune.
- Miquella’s Great Runes
This rune can be equipped during the battle against Promised Consort Radahn to dispel the charm cast by Miquella. For those who are unaware, this particular fight is the conclusion of Shadow of the Erdtree. So, you know it is not an easy one. Might as well get all the help you can get!
This Great Rune is activated by default.
- Radahn’s Great Runes
If you are someone whose FP constantly diminishes, this rune is a boon. Moreover, it will increase the base value of stars after using them.
To use it, bring it to the Divine Tower of Caelid.
