Eugene Levy Rekindles Hope for a Potential Schitt’s Creek Revival

Eugene Levy, who played the lead role in the critically acclaimed Canadian American sitcom Schitt’s Creek, expresses optimism about the show’s chances of revival.

Levy co-created and produced the show along with his son Dan Levy, Catherine O’Hara, and Annie Murphy.

From 2015 to 2020, Schitt’s Creek garnered critical acclaim and won several Emmy Awards. While there have been rumors of a possible comeback since the show’s conclusion, nothing concrete has materialized.

In an interview with RadioTimes, Levy talks about the possibilities of reviving the epic show. Levy implores the fans to have a “never say never” attitude and that they are also following the same.

According to him, the cast never stopped thinking about the show, especially given that they shed actual tears while shooting the final scenes.

I know my son Daniel has said this, we’d love to get together with these people again and take the show and the characters to yet another level. There’s nothing in the works right now to be honest, but you know, we’ve never stopped thinking about what might happen down the line. We’re certainly open to anything, I think when the idea that is the right idea presents itself we’ll probably act on, I guess.

In 2020, Schitt’s Creek wrapped up with its final episode, “Happy Ending.”, and was a real hit with both the critics and the fans.

The show knocked it out of the park with its sixth and final season, claiming nine Primetime Emmy Awards, including Best Comedy Series.

David and Patrick finally got their dream wedding and a new place to call home. Alexis broke up with Ted and got ready to tackle a new career in the Big Apple.

Meanwhile, Johnny and Moira jetted off to California, happy that their kids had finally found their own way. All in all, it was a grand finale.

Although the Levy duo technically created the show, Dan Levy was responsible for doing the lion’s share of the work.

He’s not just a pretty face in front of the camera, either. He has written 26 episodes for the show’s 80-episode run. But Levy’s got a plate full of projects already.

He’ll have to conjure up a whole new idea while juggling Sex Education season 4, hosting The Big Brunch on HBO, making an appearance in the new HBO drama series The Idol, and working on his directorial debut, Good Grief. Sigh!

There are several potential avenues for reuniting the characters. One possibility is a celebration of Johnny and Stevie’s motel business expansion, which could bring the gang back together.

Another potential scenario is the rekindling of a romantic relationship between Alexis and Ted, who may finally be able to make things work.

David and Patrick could also have a baby, an idea briefly mentioned in the show’s sixth season.

Given Schitt’s Creek’s consistent strength throughout its run, many believe that if a revival does occur, the show’s creators will find a way to continue the fantastic storytelling.

About Schitt’s Creek

Schitt’s Creek is a Canadian/American television sitcom created by Dan Levy and his father, Eugene Levy, that aired on CBC Television from 2015 to 2020. It consists of 80 episodes spread over six seasons.

Produced by Not a Real Company Productions and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, it follows the trials and tribulations of the formerly wealthy Rose family. After their business manager embezzles the family business, Rose Video, the family loses its fortune and relocates to Schitt’s Creek, a small town they once purchased as a joke.

At the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards, the series’ final season swept all seven major comedy awards. It was the first time a comedy or drama series received all seven awards; Dan Levy notably received Outstanding Comedy Series, Writing and Directing for a Comedy Series (sharing the last with Andrew Cividino).
