In episode 4 of Encouragement of Climb: Next Summit, we finally witness Aoi and Hinata’s friendship with more depth. They have come a long way from Aoi being an introvert to her gradually loving to climb mountains.

Episode 5 Speculation

Now that Hinata and Aoi have reconciled, we might see more of their mountain climbing trips further. Aoi seems to try climbing Mt. Fuji again, and she needs to overcome her trauma since her last visit to the mountain.

Hinata was angry with Aoi when she was late, probably because she did not want Aoi to exhaust herself before the climb. During the Mt. Fuji climb, she was sick and later traumatized. Hinata didn’t want the same thing to repeat.

Recap of Episode 4

Hinata and Kokoma bring Aoi to Fujiyama amusement park to ride the rollercoaster. Aoi is terrified at the mere sight of a roller coaster. Hinata and Kokoma encourage Aoi to ride one. As they reached the top, the clouds seemed to clear at a spot, and they could see Mt. Fuji.

Aoi had not finished watching eagerly, and the roller coaster slid down. Aoi is exhausted by the ride and regrets her decision.

By the time Hinata and Aoi reach the summit of Mt. Tsukuba, it’s already dark. They are mesmerized by the beautiful view at night.

Aoi asks Hinata how the view from Mt. Fuji was. Hinata says it is so beautiful that she feels like walking in the sky. Aoi wants to be stronger and tries climbing Mt. Fuji. Hinata encourages her and offers to help her.

Hinata is upset by the fact that Honoka invites Aoi to Gunma. She refuses to go with Aoi and goes with Kokoma to Mt. Akagi instead.

Honoka proposes Aoi go to Mt. Akagi someday. Hinata thinks it would have been complex for Aoi to climb Mt. Akagi as the path was rough. Hinata cares for Aoi a lot. Kokona and Hinata finally make it to the summit.

While returning, Aoi meets Hinata and Kokona on the train. Hinata wanted to show the photo of sun rays seeping through the clouds she clicked from the summit to Aoi, but Aoi had already clicked the photo. Hinata feels the distance between her and Aoi increasing and is upset.

Kaede plans to climb Mt. Mizugaki and Mt. Kinpu during the weekend with them. Aoi asks Kokoma to stay at her place and help her make food for their trip. Aoi and Kokona are late, and Hinata is furious with them.

First, they plan to climb Mt. Mizugaki. Hinata seems to have injured her leg while climbing but bears with the pain not to worry others. They reach the summit.

The next day they proceed toward Mt. Kinpu. Hinata could not go further because of her knee. Hinata and Aoi plan to return. As they take a rest, they apologize to each other. Hinata vocalizes her thoughts about them not being close and connected as before.

To this, Aoi finally confronts her, saying that Hinata will always remain her best friend.
