Cid and the Shadow Garden enter the mysterious door in episode 12 of The Eminence of Shadow, titled “The Truth inside Memories.”

Cid, faced with a mysterious door, decides to enter it out of curiosity. Faced with a completely white room and a restrained Aurora, he frees her and takes a trip down her memories to escape the area.

Meanwhile, the Archbishop reveals his true identity and fights against the rest of the Shadow Garden, and isolates them in a secret room of the Sanctuary, leaving them at a disadvantage.

Episode 13 Speculation

The episode ends at the start of the battle between Nelson and the shadow garden in a completely white domain, with some of their members split apart. He holds the advantage in his new armor and a domain he knows.

However, purely due to plot armor purposes, it is likely that the group will defeat Nelson with minimal damage. Cid is also strolling around with Aurora and will take a trip down her memory lane to get out.

Recap of Episode 12

Cid pats himself on the back at his ingenious idea to go in as Shadow and remove the spotlight from his persona, Cid. A mysterious red door presents itself to him and follows him around, and he decides to go in it.

The Archbishop explains the concept of the doors and that it has been a year since one last appeared. He talks about the three types of doors that could present themselves to a mighty warrior, the Forbidding Door, a Beckoning Door, and a Welcoming Door.

In the middle of his explanation, it begins opening, and the audience is evacuated. The Shadow Garden arrived at the VIP area, approached the door, and immediately entered it.

The Archbishop is taken, and Beta is accepted as a “hostage.” The Archbishop does not go down easy, he orders Executioner Venom to kill Alpha, and she barely survives the attack using her fake slime body and immediately counters.

The Archbishop and Beta are also taken into the door, and the other two follow suit. All of them land in a mysterious dark area, and it’s revealed that this is the area where the left arm of the demon Diablos is.

However, the Shadow Garden is here to learn more about the cult of Diablos instead of the arm and the hero Olivier, who is revealed to be a woman. The Archbishop knows about possession, and her identity is called out.

Shadow enters the door and finds Aurora in a completely white room. They exchange pleasantries and talk about the fight. Cid cuts her free of her restraints as she tags along and decides to team up with him for him to get out.

They stroll in a beautiful garden, her old memories, her childhood. They need to end this memory to get out. She slaps her past self and tells her to stop crying. Meanwhile, Olivier’s backstory is revealed as a guinea pig of the cult.

Olivier was tasked to extract cells from Diablos, and the cult had gained the cells through blood and sweat using multiple powerful artifacts. Using these extracted cells, they created a pill that grants endless immortality.

The Archbishop is revealed to be the scientist who made it, the Beads of Diablos. However, it has some side effects; it has to be taken regularly at yearly intervals. The Archbishop breaks free of the restraints and reveals himself as Nelson the Avaricious, the Eleventh knight of Rounds.

Delta stabs and kills him immediately, dropping the body into the water below. Alpha scolds her for incompetence as Nelson blasts out in his proper form, still not dead. Splitting into multiple clones, the battle begins.

The Eminence in Shadow, a manga by Daisuke Aizawa, started serialization in 2018. It is scheduled to receive an anime in October 2022. An anime film, titled ‘The Eminence in Shadow: Lost Echoes,’ was announced in December 2023.
