3. Episode 4 Recap
Elda and Koito play a game where they pretend to be in Okinawa, but Koito asks Elda to snap out of it since they have guests coming from Osaka. Koito comes across a young-looking Elf on the street, crying because she is lost. Koito decides to take her to the shrine. Meanwhile, her miko, Himawari, reaches the shrine looking for her.
Himawari and her goddess, Hiromimi, are revealed to be from the West, a rival faction to the East, where Elda was summoned. The two were summoned at the same time. Hiromimi arrives to challenge Elda to a game of Ringberry Bjorling, which is just another name for Tic-Tac-Toe. The two have just been at a draw, unaware of how to win the game.
Hiromimi is competitive with Elda, as she is older than a year, but Elda displays more maturity and lets Hiromimi believe she is superior. Himawari and Koito exchange contact info and Himawari leaves with Hiromimi. Elda catches a cold, which soon develops into a fever. Akane, a doctor from Sasaki Clinic and also the daughter of Elda’s favorite doctor, asks her to rest. She also informs Kaito that the cold is unique to only elves.
Koito takes care of Elda and learns from Himawari that Hiromimi has a cold, which she transmitted to Elda. Koito cooks for the first time, offering Elda curry to comfort her.
4. About Otaku Elf
The Otaku Elf (Edomae Elf) manga by Akihiko Higuchi was launched in Kodansha’s Shounen Magazine Edge in 2019. As of June 2022, it has been collected into six volumes. An anime adaptation for the series is set to arrive in spring 2023.
In the Takamimi Shrine resides an immortal elf who loves games. So, when the new high priestess, Koito, enters the shrine, she realizes that Elda has no interest in blessing people and simply wants to play all day long. The series follows the duo as Koito tries her best to make Elda perform her duties.
