Dwayne Johnson Hypes People Up In His ‘Face-off’ Debut Rap

Dwayne’ The Rock’ Johnson topped TV, movies and ring matches. Now it’s time for him to make his mark in the hip-hop music industry. The professional wrestler and actor released his first-ever rap song in collaboration with Tech N9ne on October 9, and it’s taking over the world.

‘Face-off’ is from the most successful independent hip-hop rapper Tech N9ne’s new album ASIN9NE. It also features other incredible rappers King Iso and Joey Cool.

As the wrestler and actor mentioned it himself, Face-off is historic for him and is a hype-up anthem created by all of them.

Johnson’s verse comes in at the end of the song, as his raspy voice with rap and passionate eyes end the music video on a high note. As per his interview with Variety, he also wrote his rap lyrics.

The song is aimed to be the new hip-hop anthem that’ll help people “get pumped up” for everything, states collaborator Tech N9ne.

Every sentence in his rap oozes confidence and swag.

I change the game so what’s my motherf** kin’ name.

While many fans stated that Wyclef Jean’s 2000 It Doesn’t Matter is actually his first rap song, the wrestler finally said that his part wouldn’t be called rapping, but it just had an addictive catchphrase.

While the reactions for the video and the song have been great so far, Johnson isn’t sure if he’ll be back in the industry, making music or not.

He revealed to Variety that he never had the ambition to be a rapper or a hip hop artist. Even though he loves hip hop, the blues, outlaw country music, he would only collaborate if the connection “feels real and authentic”.

Also, he added that he “would love to do a repeat” with Tech N9ne. With the powerful performance Johnson gave us, we might as well manifest his return as a rapper from today.
