Popp and Sigma engage in a fierce battle in episode 70 of Dragon Quest titled “Victory or Annihilation.”
Popp faced his most challenging enemy in this episode as he could not find any opening against Sigma. With Sigma’s magic-deflecting powers, it became challenging for Popp to find a way to defeat the Royal Knight.
Sigma gets the upper hand every time, no matter what Popp did. Popp, however, refused to give up and used his healing magic to stand up again and again. Ultimately winning the battle through deception. We got more than the battle, something everyone was looking forward to, Popp’s confession.
He finally proposes to Maam, which catches her off guard. However, we could not get an answer from Maam, who is still in a dilemma about her feelings.
Now, we are heading towards the battle between Haldar and Dai. So, here are the latest updates before we see the ultimate battle in the next episode.
Episode 71 Speculations
The battle between Dai and Haldar will conclude in episode 71 of Dragon Quest: The Adventures of Dai, titled “Battle of True Dragons,” and we can’t control our excitement.
After Popp defeats Sigma, he and Maam arrive to help Dai, but his battle is something no one can interrupt. Their clash rivals the one from the legends of the Underworld. This claim in the preview has doubled the fan’s excitement.
Which of the two fighters is going to emerge victoriously. Is it Dai’s Avan Strash or Haldar’s Ultra Combustion Slash? Dragon Quest being a shounen, we already know the outcome, but what comes after this battle ends is the final battle between the King and the disciples of Avan. We can’t wait to see that animated.

Episode 70 Recap
Popp attacks Sigma with his magic spells, but every attack gets reflected and hurts Popp instead. Sigma can guess Popp’s every move and knows that he only has one spell that can defeat him, the Medroa spell.
Popp accepts that Sigma is his most challenging enemy to date, and he has constantly been attacking with magic to find an opening to use the Medroa spell. Popp attacks him with a spell, which blocks Sigma’s vision because of the cloud formed from the explosions.
Popp immediately uses Black Rod to corner Sigma and detach his magic reflecting shield from his armor. He then turns the rod into Fork Spear to pin Sigma down.
As he was about to use Medroa, Sigma frees himself and brings his right hand near Popp, and blasts Popp with his Lighting Buster attack.
His lightning buster is as powerful as a Kaboom spell. He thinks he has defeated Popp, but Popp stands up again, revealing that he has been healing his wounds with the help of his magic spell. Sigma asks him whether he is a Sage, to which Popp replies that he is not a Sage and he is to be called Grand Sorcerer.
Popp gets ready to use the Medroa spell on Sigma. He struggles to fire it at Sigma, but then he fires it at the reflecting armor, which deflects the attack towards Sigma. Sigma immediately grabs Popp, making him fall into his trap. Maam arrives at the scene in the meantime.
Sigma thinks that he has won the battle. Popp emerges out of the fire to his shock, revealing that it was a deception. He fires the real Medroa spell at Sigma, bursting him into pieces.
Popp heads towards Dai with Maam supporting him. He stops suddenly and proposes to Maam, telling her that he loves her. Popp says that he finally dares to say what he wants to. He has always been grateful to her for what she did for him.
After saying this, he starts to move ahead without hearing any answer. Maam stops him and tells him that she loves him but also loves Hyunckel. Popp is more like a little brother to her. She tells him that she hasn’t come to terms with the term ‘love’ till then.
She, however, wants to finish this battle first to consider Popp as a man. She wants to fight this battle with him together, and she cannot give an answer right now. Popp agrees with that.
He asks her that maybe this is their last battle, to which she agrees. He shockingly moves ahead to kiss her but is actually poking her for fun, resulting in some beating from Maam.
She drags him towards where Dai is fighting Haldar. The episode ends with swirls of wind moving around due to the intense battle between Dai and Haldar.

The story features Dai, a boy living in the Dermline Islands and his quest of becoming a hero and realizing his powers and helping Princess Leona along the way.
The games were adapted into two major television series. Dragon Quest: The Adventures of Dai is the remake of the 1991 series which had 46 episodes in total.
