Episode 66 of Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai, titled “The Five Colors of Light,” is the latest installment of the anime.

Just when everything had started going well for Dai and his friends, problems started arising, and they were put in a difficult spot.

After saving Hyunckel and Crocodine from execution, a battle between good and evil begins. Hyunckel powers up and decides to fight Mystvearn but is pleasantly surprised when he sees Lon Beruk fighting his opponent.

Leona quickly uses his opportunity to gather the five disciples of Avan to cast the Kaglimmer spell of purification. They all form a pentagon and start concentrating on their powers to create light pillars.

A colossal problem pounces on them as Popp is still unable to make his Insignia glow.

On top of that, Mystic Bishop Zaboera arrives at the scene with hundreds of monsters to fight. Will Popp make his Insignia glow? We’ll find out in the next episode.

Episode 67 Speculation

We’ll see whether Popp can make his Insignia glow in the next episode. Honestly, I think that Popp has been through a lot in his arc.

He has proven multiple times that he’s a great hero and is just as strong as the others. All he needs is recognition from himself and confidence in his abilities.

This situation could have been avoided if Leona and Flora had checked if Popp’s Insignia could glow before going out to the battle.

This was a critical aspect of the plan since their winning depended on the spell working. Also, if Popp had discussed his concerns with his friends earlier, they could have helped him.

Regardless of their past, Dai and the others need to make sure that Popp calms down. They need to encourage him so that he can recognize his potential. The payoff of Popp’s struggles is going to be worth the wait.

Episode 66 Recap

The battle between Dai and his allies and the Dark army has begun. After joining Dai’s team, Lon Beruk challenges Mystvearn to settle an old score. As their swords clash, we’re thrown to a flashback that took place centuries ago.

Lon Beruk is in King Vearn’s palace in the Underworld. He’s there to deliver the Staff of Edacity, and the dark king considers it to be his greatest weapon.

He asks Beruk to stay at his palace and serve him as a commander, but he refuses this offer. When Veran emphasizes that Beruk is the finest swordsman and swordsmith of the Underworld, Beruk becomes wary of him.

He tells him that he doesn’t want to be bound by anyone and prefers to live a free life. As Beruk walks away, Mystvearn gets irritated because he dares to refuse the dark king.

Even though Vearn doesn’t seem to care about Beruk’s decision, Mystvearn takes it upon himself to teach Beruk a lesson.

He slashes a cross-shaped scar on Beruk’s face, and this is where the flashback ends. In the present, Beruk declares that he doesn’t intend to get any more wounds from Mystvearn’s attacks, and the two engage in a fierce battle.

Meanwhile, Leona gathers Dai, Maam, Popp, and Hyunckel to cast the Kaglimmer spell. She asks them to form a pentagon and explains how the spell works.

Before she could start, Amy interrupted them and approached Hyunckel. She hands him back his Dark Armor Spear and wishes him luck.

Hyunckel is surprised by this gesture since it was Amy who took the spear away from him in the first place. She knows Hyunckel would be involved in the battle anyway, and using the weapon would benefit him the most.

Hyunckel thanks her and turns back to Leona, who begins to explain the spell. Kaglimmer is a powerful purification spell on its own.

With Mysticite, a pentagon of five Insignias of Avan making a circle, the spell is amplified. If the spell works, it should stop Vearn Palace and nullify the magic field.

They begin to perform the spell, and the Insignias of the disciples start glowing.

Their powers combined with the Kaglimmer forms pillars of light that reach the Dark Palace. Everyone except for Popp can form pillars from their Insignias.

Popp tries his best to concentrate and make his Insignia glow but cannot do it.

Just then, the fight between Mystvearn and Beruk pauses as Mystic Bishop Zaboera enters the battlefield with dozens and dozens of monsters. Popp cripples under such immense pressure and collapses to the ground.
