Our Favorite Troy Barnes will make a Come Back in the Community Movie

With the Community movie on the horizon, creator Dan Harmon shared promising news about Donald Glover’s potential Community return. He confirmed that the star is considering the role and is currently negotiating.

The Golden Globe and Emmy winner Donald Glover played Troy Barnes in the beloved NBC sitcom.

Troy Barnes was a former high school quarterback who shifted to Greendale Community College after losing his football scholarship because of an injury. Though he was initially distant from the study group, Troy slowly became closer to his cohorts, especially Danny Pudi’s Abed.

Yahoo! Screen brought our beloved Community back for season 6 after it got canceled at NBC. Though season 6 was supposed to draw curtains on the show, fans kept the hope for a final Community movie alive because of a long-running joke of ‘six seasons and a movie’.

With Peacock finally showing the greenlight to creator Dan Harmon, it came as a sigh of relief when we saw our favorite stars like Danny Pudi, Joel McHale, Alison Brie, Jim Rash, Gillian Jacobs, and Ken Jeong in the cast.

The fans were also quick to notice that few key names were missing from the initial roster for the film. But this recent update from Dan Harmon might be able to provide some relief to the fans.

In a recent interview with Variety, the creator opened up about the potential return of Donald Glover to the Community franchise.

Dan Harmon explained that the delay in the announcement was due to Glover’s deal still being in the works and confirmed that they were working day and night to bring Glover back.

I think that Donald is coming, based on word of mouth, but it’s just the deal isn’t official or wasn’t official. It would be difficult to really commit to doing this thing without Donald. So I believe he is coming back. I think if there’s names missing from a list, it’s because the names that are on the list, their deals are agreed upon enough that it’s OK to say they are on the list, and anybody that’s not on a list, it’s just not the case yet. So there is nothing official about anybody being out.

Our Favorite Troy Barnes Set to Come Back in the Community Movie
Community (TV Series 2009-2015)

Glover left the Community Franchise in season 5, citing personal reasons for his departure. The actor said he wanted to work on projects that would give him more freedom. Not having acted in season 6, the actor’s potential comeback in the Community movie will be a much-anticipated thing for the fans.

Fans should not get their hopes too high, though. Glover’s hectic schedule could have an impact on this deal. He is currently working on many projects, including Disney Plus’s Lando Calrissian series. But Dan Harmon’s passion could ultimately bring our beloved Troy Barnes back!

With Harmon commenting that any announced actors are likely still in negotiations, it should make fans believe that actor Yvette Nicole Brown might also make a grand comeback in the Community movie.

In his post celebrating the movie’s announcement, McHale tagged Brown and Glover, along with the other actors who have already confirmed their inclusion.

Could this mean we can see more than one comeback in the movie? Only time will tell!
