The vampires are back in Season 4 of What We Do in the Shadows. Seriously, they are literally back at their home in Staten Island. Earlier, Nandor and Nadja had gone their separate ways.
While Nandor explored the world, Nadja was shipped off to London to join the Worldwide Supreme Vampiric Council. Now, Nadja wants to work on a new passion project. What exactly is it, and will she be able to complete it successfully?
As it turns out, Nadja wants to start a vampiric nightclub in Staten Island. She convinces The Guide to renovate the Vampiric Council Headquarters, and the two together transform it into a gothic-themed club for vampires.
Although Nadja fulfilled her “dream,” she had to surpass a big challenge. The Guide in charge of the Vampiric Council Headquarters wasn’t ready to give up the space.
To her, it was a spiritual place where the vampires gathered for meetings. Moreover, it also had a massive library with ancient sacred texts. What could the sacred texts of vampires possibly say? Do not form any kind of relationships with werewolves and gargoyles, I guess!
But Nadja is not one to give up. She employs Laszlo to therapize The Guide and find out why she’s so attached to the building. As it turns out, Laszlo had worked with Sigmund Freud back in the day and could treat The Guide.
As the two delve into the dark depths of her mind, they find out that before becoming in charge of the Vampiric Council Headquarters, she was a rebellious vampire who broke all rules and even committed blasphemy by sleeping with Van Helsing, the vampire killer.
Due to this, she also had feelings for Guillermo, who happens to be a descendant of Van Helsing. Laszlo helps The Guide uncover all these repressed memories and thus achieves catharsis.
The Guide then helps Nadja bring down the headquarters and turn it into a nightclub, which we see in Episode 3, ‘The Grand Opening.’ Season 4 will be about Laszlo and Nadja’s wedding. The couple who’s been madly in love for centuries might finally get married, which would be as hysterical as everything else in the show.
